HM Customs and Inland Revenue do not class TRNC as being in EU for VAT purposes, hence the duty frees at Stansted.

Vaughan Mersin 10 Turkey. Have claimed back VAT at LHR for computer items etc. Bought duty free liqueurs on flight ticket to Turkey boarding card. On return claimed I'd been in Cyprus (EU) and was allowed cartons of cigarettes to go through! A very small benefit for living in the TRNC! Richard

Re customs and excise. If whilst in UK should you purchase anything over £100 you can claim back the vat at point of departure ie airport etc.
