My answer would be that you dont receive post in the TRNC

in 5 years of being here, I only ever received letters/cards etc in the first year then after that nothing, except official letters which always manage to get through, I have friends who have post boxes that never get any mail, so you have heard of Bob Hope well we have NO HOPE

I feel the need to defend the TRNC postal system. In more than five years only one postcard (sent from France) did not arrive. Not a bad score when you realise that 1 in 69 suitcases in European airports gets lost - every day!

Ok Hans maybe we can have all our mail delivered to you then, as how come yours arrive and 100's of other people on here dont get so much as a letter in all this time

Watch the tidal flow in the English channel, Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the full moon and secure your cork properly in the wine bottle. Google Earth can help you!

=> Smithy, as far as I know there are no Greek Cypriots working for the Dutch postal service. How's the situation in the UK?

RE smithy again. Proposal: find two or three Brits with serious complaints. Have them send a letter from the UK to a Dutch friend of mine in Haarlem, Holland. He'll put the closed letters in a new enveloppe with Dutch stamps and send them to my address in TRNC or to addresses you must provide.

Let's see what happens...

Not sure Hans

As I have been living in the TRNC for the last five years not sure what the postal system in the UK is like now, all I know is that they dont deliver to me. Maybe because I have unusual name (smith) they cant trace me )

We were told that to get a Post Office Box you have to go on 1st January, is this not a Bank Holiday in Northern Cyprus?

we have never had a problem with the trnc postal system.

in fact the uk system lost our tax returns last year and we got fined, so it cost us big style!

We've had a few items go astray, even things which have been posted using a brown envelope. We have received postcards and greeting cards. I think its pot luck really.

I have always received all registered mail sent here and also everything I have sent registered has turned up at its destination.

Postcards and non registered mail has however frequently gone astray.
