Expats leaving the island and leaving their pet(s) behind now have to pay 1000 Sterling (to KAR) per pet if they don't rehome their animal.

To be controversial, my husband, a retired vet has said it would be kinder to the pet to put it to sleep. i know, bit off Hans original post.

If they don't leave the issue re leaving pets wouldn't arise.

(*) Two years or so ago a very young puppy (not mine) crossed the road near Tempo, Karaoglanoglu. He/she was hit by a car and I stopped to see what I could do, which was nothing in my opinion. Than "Littlenige" happened to stop, told me he had been a butcher and that he would do what was necessary in both our opinions. He took the puppy behind a dustbin, lifted a big stone and crushed the pup's head. Well done - but this is the true version of what happened. Just for the record.
