Secular! My ex got told off by the Police for going topless on my balcony but told it was okay on the beach! Some years ago now.

Personally, I think topless is inappropriate in the environment but o.k in privacy of your

own roof. The religion requires modesty, something not really popular in the West!

Threatened to go topless once on beach in Corfu and my 15 year old daughter said

she would leave! (Was much younger then)

Going topless on a public beach here usually creates a bit of a stir. You will find yourself surronded by the turkish workers ogling, and guys walking up and down the beach in front of you. It is a sad state of affairs but many of these guys havent seen a woman or girl for a long time, they are seperated from there wives and girlfriends in turkey for a long time.

They will I am sure make you feel very uncomfortable.

It has nothing to do with being a Muslim country, as mentioned in msg. 22 above, "hungry" men will make you feel uncomfortable. You may also get some dirty looks from some wives who may be upset about their husbands pretending not to look but so obviously looking! To be honest its the human nature to look at unusual things or events. If it becomes "normal" then people will stop looking. Then those with some extra valuables will obviously get upset for not drawing enough attention. You can't win.

Think it is okay to go topless but it should be done in the privacy of your own garden and not all exposed for the general public to see.

There is no absolute right or wrong in such things. It varies with places and times. Any abrupt change always causes trouble. Every change must evolve slowly if it is to become acceptable by the masses. Look at the swimsuits of 1920 or 1940 or 1990 and the bikinis or tangas of today. The change is very evident. You do not have to be a mathematician to extrapolate and guess what will happen in the future.
