I first met Sir Bobby in Ipswich at a book signing - I was manager of a local newsagents. It was in the last week of trading before Christmas. He was over an hour late, he had an emergency dental appointment - I met him at the door, be apolgised many times for his lateness but was eager to get started signing books, he was extremely cheerful we had a good morning, a perfect gentleman - we talked about his playing days for England. As I helped him on with his winter coat prior to his leaving, he said once more that he was sorry for being late, and (between him and I) he had been told by his dentist he had cancer of the mouth. How he managed to be so cheerful is truly amazing, what a professional. God Bless, Sir Bobby RIP.

Yes with the money he had to spend (Not a lot), he created a very, very good Ipswich team.

My and my wifes heart sank a bit when we saw him at the midweek charity game, if only a few of the "Modern" managers followed his example.

We will miss you Sir Bobby...

What a wonderful farewell he had last Sunday and what a magnificent legacy he has left behind. It's not only the Geordie nation that's in mourning today. R.I.P Sir Bobby.

I dont mind admitting I shed a tear today for a truly remarkable man. The dreaded disease finally did him on the fourth attempt. The fighting spirit of the man never faultered during all his pain and troubles and always had a smile for every one, shows the true character of the man. Farewell Sir Bobby there will never be another like you..TW ROBSON aka Coachie..
