I am trying to persuade my husband to let me take on a Golden Retriever who will be put to sleep on Monday if we dont rehome her. He is against having another dog in the house, but is considering having her as an outside dog. Does anyone have a kennel that would be suitable for her, that they are not using. I am prepared to swap it for a smaller plastic dog kennel that we bought for our jack russel stray, that she never uses. Any offers would be bratefully received. Many thanks Karen

Tinkie this is a very interesting thread you have started. Are you saying that if the dog is not homed it will be put to sleep by KAR or have I got this wrong?

Hi Quarmby...Thats not exactly how it was no, the dog has a nasty disease which needs to be managed by medication. The plan was to neuter and release her but when they discovered the disease they advised that she could not be returned to the streets with the illness, so would have to be put down. KAR have been very helpful and have done exactly what they said they would do.

No Lilli, dont worry they havent, I have spoken to them this morning and they are going to contact me when she has had the puppies, so that we can collect her. The puppies will be put down straight away, unfortunately it seems that she is too far along for her to be neutered and the puppies removed. Poor thing, but at least we know she will be coming home soon. I wont have time to pop in today to see you Lilli, can we do it later in the week please? x

Huge thank you to Lilli, who very kindly donated the dog kennel to us today. It was a happy day yesterday when our lovely Golden retriever Flossie came home at last. Not such a happy day for the cats and our little Jack Russel who is very put out at the appearance of a new member of the family! Been to the vets and got started on the medication that Flossie needs for her illness, so hopefully we will see an improvement in her soon, she is in a bit of a state and very thin but the vet is confident that she will soon gain weight. Thanks gain Lilli, and I hope that your dog situation improves before too long. x
