This is how it was reported in this mornings daily mirror.

CROSS THE LINE.

A street barricaded since 1974 when turkey invaded Cyprus will finally be re-opened in the capital Nicosia tomorrow. They just dont get it do they.No mention of the reasons why the turks invaded. And they even managed to get the date wrong as well. They couldnt even manage to get a measly 21 words correct,

Regards,

Paul.

hi guys

yes the lokmaci kapi was offically open this morning and i watched it live on brt, and after years the actual lokma shop right next to the gate opened with its original owner made thousands of lokma for people to eat, you can read the reports on this link

Hi all,

When they say "the crossing is open", do they mean the crossing that all you had to do was to show your passport and walk across anyway?

If so does this 'Opening' simply mean we don't have to show passports anymore or am I mistaken.

Hi Corinium

I wouldn't imagine so. You will still need to have your passport stamped but it'll be great not having to walk all around via Leda Palace for a big Mac

hi corinium

like all the other crossings you still have to show your passport but not get your passport stamped but get that extra piece of paper with your passport number stamped because at the end of the day you are crossing from one country to the next

Was there any sort of ceremony to mark the event or was it more low key,

Paul.
