Went to escape beach on saturday to ask about price to get into mid summer ball, there was about 4 of them standing there where you pay to go in. I asked about the price of tickets, one of them understood english. He went on to say 50ytl, i said that is too expensive and same price as shaggy. He said that price was very cheap for summer ball. Anyway, today i was talking to a friend i told her it was 50ytl to get in, she said no, she phoned the number in the paper, who said it was 25 if you have a ticket or 35 on the door. I called the same number and asked him, he confirmed what my friend had said. I told him what was happened and he was not happy. So if you go, be warned, they might and try and charge 50 ytl. nice little earner.. 15 ytl in their pockets each time....

Sadly it's an endemic part of their culture here,as is lying. It is not seen as a bad thing anymore, after all they have endured over the decades, who can blame them ???

grandpagrump, It's emdemic. Written on your forehead are the words "I'm a foreigner, I'm easily conned". What you need to do is be aware of this and shop around for anything that you want. Accept nothing on face value, especially if it doesn't have a price tag on it!!

Heard in Lapethos Aqua Park they dont display food prices, which must mean more costly for the Brits but cheap for the locals. 1 slush puppy 5 ytl bet the locals pay less.

Msg 9, LostFound: (...) Heard in Lapethos Aqua Park they dont display food prices, which must mean more costly for the Brits but cheap for the locals. 1 slush puppy 5 ytl bet the locals pay less. (...) => Another accusation on this board - without proof. "I heard", "must mean" and "bet". Damaging. Worthless. P.S. We use TL in TRNC and no longer ytl (I'm sure about it).

Yes Lapethos Aqua park do display prices and its the same for all - went there with local kids at the start of the season and with local staff from the school and was one price for all - not that their prices are cheap but then they never are in places like this. They did give us a group discount though- as we had 40 kids with us!
