Fast ferry to Alanya

Has anyone on this board used the ferry from Girne to Alanya? We are contemplating spending a few days in Alanya in September.Any advice re. ferry hotels etc. would be most appreciated.

Hello from a very very hot Lapta.I'm ex RN,so stayed on deck,diesel fumes,and bags everywhere.Although calm,my fellow travellers stayed below on the seats.Steward gave out sick bags with a smile,and lots were used!!!From naval days think the ferry must be single screw,i.e. one propeller.so "yawed"everywhere!!

I would not rercommend this travel.Good offers flights to Istanbul..there's a place to enjoy.

I'm just a fairly new resident here,not a travel agent

The Alanya ferry is a bit on a nightmare unless your crossing is as smooth a glass.

Try the Girne - Tascuc Fast Ferry. Its generally a Catamaran and makes for a much better crossing. The town of Tascuc is small and easily walked around in an hour or so. There are several hotels next to the port. For longer trips goto the Bus Station and catch a bus to Mersin.

alanya is a lovely place to spend time but no idea about the ferry



also if you do decide to cross to tasucu mersin, check out altin orfoz hotel about 30 mins away from the harbour. a great hotel. http://www.altinorfoz.com/en/altinorfoz.htm

Just got back from a two day trip on the popularly named "Vomit Comet" the Fast sea bus to Alanya. Great trip my misses didn't quite lose it as the the nickname has implies, but not far off, everyone else was OK though.Fantastic trip, Fergün were extremely helpful and even booked us a hotel in Alanya the y met us off the boat and delivered us to the hotel. Great. Alanya , after TRNC is a differen universe. Buzzing with life and shops and things to buy and look at. The down side was the pricing. Sounds OK 170 YTL per person return, then when you arrive at the docks it's another 26 YTL for the boarding card and 5 YTL for the Habour, and 10 YTL for god knows what. On the return it's not much different with seperate Harbour charges and the like. SO if you go don't think it's paid for all up in advance. So it turns out flying is cheaper. .(PAid 180Ytl all up wih Pegasus two weeks ago)The pedantic beurocracy of the passport controls at both ends beggars belief.
