Yesterday experts said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has the atomic bomb now or is ready to finish one any moment.

Some questions arise. Will the USA risk a third (now: Afghanistan, Iraq) war in order to destroy Iran's capability to produce one or more atomic bombs? Or will the US back off again (North Korea)? Will Israel (being Iran's target nr. 1) do what it usually does when threatened in its existence - "remove" the threat with or without US permission?

Iran probably has the possibility to try to destroy Israel - and Cyprus is only a couple of hundred kilometers away from (the possible fall-out) in Israel. So, when the wind is wrong...

Anyone worried about the scenario above?

Calm down DC, isn't there enough grumblings about house building and regulations to deal with now without people digging up and installing there own nuclear bunkers. I suppose we could just reinforce the pump room for the pool or lead wall the water tank and drain it when needed.

Israel already has the tacit agreement of the USA, Egypt and Saudi Arabia to sort out the problem (Egypt recently allowed Israeli submarines through the Suez Canal, and Saudi Arabia are apparently partly funding Israel).

As is usual, Israel will sort out the middle east's problems, and almost everyone will condemn their actions (in public anyway).

I think Iran is in for a big shock - they're no longer the mighty Persian Empire, just another middle-eastern despot with an inferiority problem., who are going to suffer for their ego-trip.

The US announced that they should have the MOP (massive ordinance penetrator) developed and ready for use by next year, the announcement was apparantley a warning to Iran that military force would not be ruled out. By the same token, Obama announced that the US has not, and will not, ever give the "green light" for Israel to strike nuclear targets in Iran.

I hope that dialogue succeeds, as the human consequences of another war is surely unbearable?

No need to do anything .If they start lobbing nuclear bombs about it aint gonna matter where you are in the world. or what you do. Even a couple in the middle east will be enough to destroy the environment which is already on a knife edge.

We can only hope that both Israel and Iran or for that matter India and Pakistan take heed of M.A.D.

One things for sure, Iran will get the bomb. We will have to live with it .Some other method of preventing the spread of WMD must be found other than countries such as US UK France Israel China ,India Pakistan who themselves demand the right to destroy the planet ,preaching to others the immorality of wanting that same right.

I think US should maybe let others preach, after all they are the only nation that has dropped these weapons on human beings.

Personally I would be more worried about Al Quaeda infiltrating or taking over the organs of Government in a nuclear Pakistan.

These days nuclear weapons are so low yield (small) and accurate that you could take out all your targets in Iran without rattling the windows in Iraq. Israel won't wait for the Iranians to strike first so it wall all be over between bedtime and breakfast.

As an Nuclear Veteran ( Maralinga,Australia ) and an ex forces instructor we used to tell our ' students ' that in the event of a Nuclear strike they should go to the toilet, drop trousers, bend over and kiss your proverable goodbye.

And before anyone ask's. No I dont glow in the dark.

Here are some tips in the event of a Nuclear attack.

1. Try not to be anywhere near it.

Some supplies to have on hand in your fallout room

1. Have enough food for 14 days. Though you may have some perishable items on hand, the majority of food should be able to last. Further, you should choose to eat the perishable items first.

2. Have enough water for 14 days. In fact, try to have extra supplies of this on hand. This may prove difficult if you live in the TRNC as there is a water shortage. Remember to secure your food and water. If radioactive dust gets on to it, there's no real way to get it off.

3. Have a radio and extra batteries as this will be your only real connection to emergency contacts and the outside world. Without this, you won't know what to do or when to do it. You could enjoy dancing whilst you are waiting to get burned alive.

4. Have tin openers, cutlery, bowls, plates, and etc. In case you get visitors.

5. Have warm clothing on hand. Gloves and boots may be especially important in order to protect the outer extremities.

6. Have bedding on hand. This should be both comfortable and warm. Not that you’ll get much sleep but you never know.

7. Have bathroom supply products. Consider knowing where you will toilet in advance. Since you cannot waste water in a toilet- and may not even have one in your fallout room- have buckets, bags for waste, and disinfectants/ cleaners with you as well. It may be smart to have garbage / dustbin right outside of your fallout room to store human and food waste materials (consider not putting things out of the room at all until at least two days after the event in case of thieves).

8. Have flashlights, candles, and matches in case you want to play games.

10. Have cloths, brushes, and brooms for cleaning, just in case there’s fallout and you want to get the dust off of things.

11. Have soap on hand with towels. In case you get covered in nuclear dust.

12. Have a first aid supply kit.In case you get seriously burned (which you probably will)

13. And just as important, have things to keep you busy like books, paper, and pens. Oh and a laptop so you can contact everyone on Cyprus 44 and see what they are up to.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of nuclear weapons have been tested above ground since the 50's, though none since a test ban treaty was agreed by most nuclear powers. They were tested in the deserts of the USA, the Indian Ocean, The Pacific, The USSR and China. Imagine how much fallout there must have been floating about in the worlds atmosphere during the 50's, 60's and 70's... how come so many of us didn't die from radiation poisoning during this time?

I'm convinced this 'swine flu' episode is purely a cover up for the fallout from recent nuclear tests.

For those still worried about fallout, the USSR tested a 58 Megaton(!!) device called Tsar above ground in Siberia in 1961. This was the biggest ever tested and was equivalent to 3800 Hiroshima bombs!!

I was 12 at the time and I'm still here.

Nuclear tests were carried out on the Nulaboar Plains, Australia in the 50s and 60s and radiation was recorded in Adelaide two hundred miles away and Tony Blair was in Adelaide at the time as a baby. Look what it did to him.

Do we want anymore children growing up like him ?

Was Gordon Brown near any fall out areas ?

These are the questions that need answers.
