and if so

do you think there will be a different frequency for Pubs and Clubs that we may be able to recieve over here somehow?

TechTrader.

You can receive it 24/7 on a properly aligned 4.2 metre dish, but at the moment their is not much on it,so it is better to go for a Official showtime Card as they have the rights to show all 380 Premiership Games this Year.

Hmm

A lot of conflicting stuff on here:

Sorry to add to it..

ESPN and HD "appear" to be on Astra *2B*

http://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?question=espn&Submit=Zap

Scroll down to Astra 2A, etc.

you will see that the non HD channel uses 2B north beam

http://en.kingofsat.net/beams.php?s=51&b=14

and the HD channel

2B south beam

http://en.kingofsat.net/beams.php?s=51&b=15

HOPEFULLY this means that in CY - if the reports are to be believed - I see no reason why not.. that a dish HALF the size of a 4.2m would work ..almost certainly a 1.8m for the non HD channel - as it is the old Channel 5 setting !

*I* think it MIGHT need a good 2.4m for HD - but we will know - soon enough ;)

Iceman is testing on an HD box on a 1.8m and will revert

He asked me to tell you that he can be contacted via his web site http://www.skycyprus.com or his tel no. listed there..

I asked him WHY he doesn't post himself, and if you want to know the answer call him ;))))

Hi mmmm,

My 4.2 was aligned for the free TV channels about 1 year ago with mixed reception (freezing etc at night). Can I get my dish realigned to take advantage of the changes discussed above for better reception?

Dear "TRNC" V

Which channels freeze..?

Your answer will help - I suspect you might say BBC / ITV .. what is reception like in the morning - on the channels that freeze at night?

Also what is the make and model of your receiver ?

Hi mmmmmmm,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Mostly the free channels like BBC, ITV etc. Reception is good to iffy during the day and NIL at night.

Not sure of make (not at home now) but it's a Sky+ box which I think is a good brand.

Would like to know what causes ITV and BBC1 to lose reception when you have the 4.2 dish anyone know Iceman did my dish and said it was the strongest signal he had ever had but still have this problem

Follow up -

Would just like to say I have just been informed that if you have a 4.2 dish you should not lose reception on ITVor BBC I thought this problem was normal for these channels. Iceman is going to sort the problem and as he said and rightly so if you dont tell him there's a problem he can,t fix it.

when we got our dish put up it takes some time to settle and Mustafa (iceman) came out a couple of times to sort the problem.

It was actually good knowing that he is someone who actually takes pride in what he does

Hi "TRNC"V

Sorry, I ,missed your response.. :{

SKY + boxes are NOT the best tuners in marginal signal areas.. The HD boxes are FAR better ,, but I don't THINK that's your issue.

If this is consistent - timing wise - a pattern - then FOR SURE - you need a visit from the installer who made the dish.

If it was a Spider in the LNB, there would be no pattern to the problem.

Don't listen to any nonsense about "atmospheric interpherence"

Let us know what happens

i see that Lyngsat has at last updated their info to show ESPN details

just for your info I am running a Sky HD box on a 1.6m dish (inverted)

now I have the info I will get ESPN HD but not SD like I now get CH4 HD (not SD on 1.6)

I receive all 3 Sky Sports HD, Sky One HD, one HD film channel Screen 1 + 2xbox office, Nat Geo HD, MTV HD and Sky Real Lives HD

with a big dish I would get more film HD and History Bio HD etc

Hi TT

Thanks for the info, too

Re you dish ( inverted) - do you mean Offset, by any chance ?

Offset is the dish that is flatter and more upright..

Primefocus dishes are the round ones ( true dishes) that has struts meeting in the centre

As you have observed, the SKY HD Box lets one watch more pay tv channels than conventional boxes , with a smaller dish in Cyprus.. REAL HD...
