Harryhornet,

As visitors to the TRNC I have only ever drunk it at The Ship.

Buying at Esentepe. Can you suggest a suitable establishment near to the coast road?

Something like the Chainmakers Arms to remind me of home!

Hi Living on Mars

There are a few but as you mentioned infrastructure not good, I think it was a case of build build build and forget the rest.

On the coast road. Antique (yuk), Eagles Nest, beautiful views, Niazi's, Alkans. In Esentepe you have the Esentepe Villa Hotel, good views, Esentepe Restaurant, Ros'ies and Tumba.

There are a number of places in Alagadi but that's about it really. There used to be a really good one out just past Tatlisu but they put the new road straight through the middle of it!

I'm not local to Esentepe ... I was just commenting that I never saw any bars when I visit the area. Although granted I did see the large golf course ... never thought of popping in there for afternoon drinkipoos! I think Kazzer is right - build first ..worry about the rest later.

Watty,

Are you trying to confuse all these people?

Guess we need a Black Country forum so we can all locate each other. Then we can have a whip round and buy our own pub. Infrastructure? Us black country lads ull build our own!

Can someone describe the taste of Efes having not tasted nor heard of it before. I'm a Guinness man myself. lager with the barbie of course, not sure what my drink of choice will be in TRNC no doubt it'll be wine on the balcony but I need a regular drink in the bar .

Hi Prionsias

Efes is very gassy (much more so that Keo) and IMO pretty tasteless. I personally don't like the standard one that much so tend to drink the Extra. Hubby drinks the dark or Gold Fassel.

Nige

That is easier said than done. I even slow down for birds (the feathered kind before anyone make a comment!) unfortunately this morning I did hit a partridge. Didn't bother to stop to pick it up though.

think you've got a long wait ahead of you. Thatchers Gold would be really nice. There's nothing better than a glass of real cider on a hot day.

But to answer the original question. We don't have any particular watering hole. I suppose we drink in the Village more than anywhere else because of driving.

Jobee,

Niazi's is not on the Esentepe road. It's nears the Rocks/Dome Hotels near the harbour in Girne.

Hi Jobee

You are correct. Its before you get to the Eagles Nest. You have to leave the main road on the left hand side and go through a new housing estate to get to it. It used to have a sign post at the top of the road.

Jobee

I've added it to wikimapia.

Here is the link, if you follow the coast road out towards Bachelli/Tatlisu you will see a housing estate on the left hand side which is nearing completion. The estate is one of very few that has tarmac on the roads. On the headland is the restaurant. I have marked it. If you have any problems let me know.

I will be moving to Karsiyaka in May and would like to know where everyone hangs out in that area as its a little bit further on than I had hoped to move but still seems a loveley place to live,I know you have to drive to most places which doesn't bother me as I never drink here in the UK anyway but I like to meet people so if anyone can tell me where the watering holes are close by that you frequent I will have to get you one in when I arrive.

Well Stevie I know how to get there but I still don't know what the estate is called and the full address as I only came over last week and found it for Long Term Rental,I prefer to do that first before Buying so I can check out all areas before making a decision, and the address is on the contract which I dont have yet only a draft but If you are driving out of lapta there is a small coffee bar and grocers on the right and a large Pepsi sign where we turn down past the Stone Build houses and we are down on the Right in a small close the builder of the properties is still having his completed opposite ours and they were getting ready to tarmac the road so I hope that will all be done in the next few weeks,as the builder wants to move in he is pushing to get this complete, always a bonus having the builder near by but saying that I am married to a builder anyway
