Depends where you are staying, but you have to go a long way to beat the newly refurbished Pines Bay, just near the Alsancak Arch.

Huge screen for sport, great menu, pool tables, plus use of the hotel facilities.

And the owner is a big Arsenal fan!. What more could you ask for!!!

Went to the Pine Bay Club back in November whilst it was being refurbished. Glad to know that it has all been done. Not sure about the Arsenal bit though!

I too would recommend JK's in Lapta. The place has a huge terrace on the top of the new building, a blessing if you don't smoke, as the bar was pretty smokey most evenings we were there.

But alround a good place. It's just at the turnoff for the Sempati Hotel, same side of the road.

Hopefully JK's will get some shade up on the roof otherwise you'll burn to a crisp in the summer!!

For a bit of comfort, try the Celebrity, downstairs under the hotel (actually under the road).

Very comfortable seating for watching the sports, 3 pool tables, 1 bar billiards, all the sports channels, 4 TV's, one large plamsa and a projector for big games, (oh!, and a cr@p pool team!!) and they have the very palletable Fassel (local larger) for 2.5ytl a pint.

Cheers

Yes Jk's is British owned and yes some shade up on the roof would be very welcome.

A swimming pool on the ground next to it would go down well to Me thinks.

No Woody's is not there anymore, but has changed to another name, that I can't think of now.

That place is between Lapta and Girne, in Alsankak I think.

Jk's is about as far west in Lapta as you can get on the main road, on the right hand side of the road.

Ravine bar on main road in Alsancak pool darts sky tv etc. Lots of families use this bar in the summer months. Rosy's bar in Lapta is very good if you want to sit and have a meal or a drink and watch the kids on the sandy beach or swimming in the safe sea area.

Was told by JK's that they hope to start building a swimming pool this summer to the left of the building.

You won't beat JKs, English family run bar with live entertainment and sport top of the bill.

Msg24,

That will be THE place to avoid then - people go for a drink to relax in pleasant surroundings - not to admire a building site!

Why don't they start work on these ideas at the END of the season, instead of thinking 'Hey, it's nearly Summer, we're going to have visitors any minute - what can we do to tart the place up?'.

Keith.
