Ahh, Vidal, bet you can't wait. I did make room for my slow cooker, which I am so pleased I did. It saves using the oven and making the kitchen like a sauna. Also, my microwave. We did bring lots of things that I wish I hadn't bothered with. I now want to de- clutter. With all the dist out here, less is best. Good luck with your move, and don't worry to much, there isn't much that you can't get over here.

| A Canon 400mm f/2.8L IS USM AF Lens would have been wonderful to bring along but then if I caould have afforded it I probably would have brought one. Also an EOS1D or 1Ds camera but again it's the price so if anybody happens to have any of these laying around gathering dust and they are willing to give them away I would gladly take them off your hands. | A good collection of screws and nails plus rawlplugs from "Screwfix" would have saved me hours and hours! A good hand saw. Good (not white) tie wraps that last more than a year in the sun. Reinforced hosepipe. A big pile of swimming trunks - mine only last a season and the sun eats them. A box of Grape Nuts. Some coffee beans from Aldi. The list goes on and on.......... Welcome to the Island, enjoy it and learn to either make do or do without, it is the best way of dealing with most things here. Big attitude change needed but the change in life is worth all the effort - smile more, you have nothing to cry over. Oh yes - Kleenex Man Size, strip them out of the boxes and use the tissues as packing then store them for use when you get here. |

Caster sugar. What's with the ice makers - I use my freezer??? A good quality wok. BBQ. Bike with puncture repair kit. lilo(s) for pool. candles - citronella. definitely a rechargeable drill that can be used on concrete. Extension leads and sockets. I did bring out bedding and towels which I am so pleased I did. I wish I had put in a good quality suite and cane garden furniture, we did bring the garden furniture which is cheaper in the UK. I hope someone has told you not it is not a pleasant experience once your container has arrived. You need photocopy (can't remember is one or 2) or passport etc. I would suggest you check with the people taking your goods. Good luck.

OK, my slow cooker, sense of humour(does not weigh a lot!) a stiff brush for the rugs, a bottle of decent sherry (must be spanish) decent underwear, I am sure there are loads of others and some of these may be a bit fippant because it is only when you get her and start to live that you think about what you miss. Maybe you can tell from my list that I do not miss a lot!!

Hi rowan You are so right. 'it is only when you get here and start to live that you think about what you miss'. This is exactly why I posted the question. Its good to hear you dont miss that much. It was only when I was sorting through our things, you start to think why on earth did I need all this!!

Brinsley - yes, that's just about the level of posting I would have expected of you. I have been advised by several of the Forum Admins to 'lay off of you' but I must admit, I do find it difficult since I find your moronic, totally pointless postings on most of these threads totally anal. You tend to turn most of your answers into a type of 'double entendre' which are not funny, although some of the simpler folk on here appear to find you amusing, although most, I find, think you are basicially a waste of space. I told you some time ago that I felt we would be better off making a new start. I feel that I kept to my side of the bargain, but I am buggered if I am going to sit here and let you insult me without retialiation. So, stifck that up your 'derriere' (you multi-lingual thing, you) and smoke it.

stifck, an interesting word, must look that one up. Very easy for you, just ignore my postings and do not reply. Let it ride over your head as if I don't exist. Richard

Message 35 - will do. stifck - "Oh Lord it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way". Received and understood. Oh, by the way, do take care when crossing "The Boarder" won't you? PS Will attempt to 'just ignore your postings and not reply', but it isn't easy, since you have a reply to everything, even if it's just "Bazooka them". However, message understood and will do my very best. I really annoy you, don't I?

Msg 36 Was that a rhetorical question? I think the University of Manchester are starting a new syllabus in humour which gains the graduate a BA, mature students are welcome to apply! Richard

Message 37 - rhetorical? - no, not really. I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that you crossed the 'boarder' for shopping and was merely stating that you should be careful. I mean, you never know where "Greeks" may lurk just waiting to "drive there JCB's into TRNC" do you? If, indeed, the University of Manchester are starting a new syllabus in humour, may I suggest you attempt to enrol. I live nowhere near Manchester, but I am sure you would have no problems with the commute, since you were recently prepared, I believe, to drive from TRNC across Bulgaria, notwithstanding your disability. I find the Mancunian sense of humour extremely funny, but, from what I've seen (heard) of yours, I feel it may be a case of "water off a duck's back", or, of course, "No sense, no feeling"? Kind regards.

Msg 38 As far as my 'stateless' status I've been in the TRNC for ten years and have only crossed the border no more than half a dozen times mostly for historical trips. The Bulgarian 'trip' was only an offer to help 'a another', something in your humanity and sensitivity seem to lack, as is your knowledge of Cyprus and myself. On a need to know basis I am indeed a physical cripple though I'm sure you'd like to include my two brain cells which are still active, just! Richard
