Went into Tempo (Cattlekoy) yesterday to buy some Heinz salad cream, but they hadn't got any....

They had several diferent salad dressings from a company called "Remia" - i took a bottle of Blue cheese salad dressing, and a bottle of Marie rose sause.....

As i live and breathe - probably the most horid taste ever....

Absulutely appauling - i would rather be Married to Garry Monger's missus for 1,000 years than taste that rubbish again....

Avoid at all costs - A Neg Nick 0 / 10 (and i don't give those out very often)...

Aslan - good idea and Nick, here's one to start you off once proper salad cream/mayonnaise is available again. It's Marie Rose sauce and tastes much nicer than what you buy already made up.

Salad Cream, but preferable mayo.

Tomato puree or ketchup

Lemon juice

Mix it all together.

That's it.

Blimey Nick - at this rate, you'll be the next Paul Newman (with regard to his salad dressings, not his sad demise).

Nick - Indeed!

PS Just a thought, I wonder how your new line making salad dressings will impinge on your reviewing. You don't want to spread yourself too thin!!

Jeannie, Message 3

try putting a drop of tabasco or chilli sauce, and a dash of Worcestersauce into your recipe it just gives it that bit something special.

Message 10 - thanks for that tip Chris.

If I use the Marie Rose sauce for, say, prawn cocktail, always put Cayenne pepper on the top!

Serves you right Negativenick for shopping at Tempo, use Erdeners or Supreme, cheaper, friendlier and small locally owned.

Can you get Levi Roots 'Reggae Reggae' sauce in NC?

We find the stuff addictive!

Also very good for sorting out constipation!

Try extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice as a salad dressing: simple, healthy and delicious!

Most of those salad dressings are so fattening you are probably better off eating a burger and chips instead of a salad in the first place especially with the ones containing mayonnaise.
