Im hoping to get married in the TRNC next summer... Does anyone know the procedure?? We don't want a big do, just a simple ceremony and a meal afterwards in a nice restaurant for about 40 people.

any suggestions would be great.

Hi Maria

I recently got married here in Cyprus - at Bellapais. We used Vashti as our a wedding planner, to help organise details at the venue, plus flowers, cake etc and also guide us on the registrar formalities - we couldn't have done it without her. Her website is: http://www.north-cyprusweddings.com.

contact marionstuart@hotmail.com and she will share her experience for nothing. Wedding planners differ depending on what they offer, and several people I know do it themselves and are quids in. It all depends on how poor you are and how much you like a challenge. But Marion knows a little and so does Teresa. Teresa can sell you a dress and Mairon can't- so collect all the info you can, and then decide how you want to do it.

Gardenia in Karakum can also sell & make wedding dresses. Oya is london trained designer & is a cypriot, well worth a visit for ball gowns as well and at reasonable prices.

Are weddings the same in TRNC as England, i.e. the place has to be registered for weddings or can they take place anywhere?

Maria,

if it helps at all, my daughter was at Katie's wedding, my grandson was pageboy, she said the day was perfect for katie, very well organised.

Vas is lovely, nothing is too much trouble for her, I'm sure she'll do everything in her power to make your day perfect too.

Good luck, i hope you special day goes well.
