Tried to brush Bella's teeth with colgate last night she was having none of it. Apparently she doesn't like colgate. Does anyone know where we can buy dog toothpaste here in the TRNC

Hippo, she regularly gets a bone, but doesn't help her dog breath. Also she has now decided she doesn't like some of her dog food so last night I had to put Mayo on it so she would eat it. She also only drinks water if it is from the water cooler no tap water for that lady just refuses to drink it. Fickle or what !!!

I've got a brilliant book called 1001 Natural Remedies and there's a recipe in there for baking soda toothpaste which is actually for dogs. It says:

"To whiten and clean your dogs teeth, mix up a paste of baking soda and water and use a small amout as toothpaste. Baking soda polishes the teeth and helps neutralize bad breath. Avoid human toothpastes - dogs don't like the taste!"

Hope this helps, otherwise I'm back in the UK beginning of September and I could bring some doggie toothpaste back with me

Nursenotsoawful, I've a sneaking hunch your doggie may be a bit spoilt. Is that correct?

I think they might sell dog toothpaste in the pet section (upstairs) at the Girne Pound Shop. They sell just about anything else that a spoilt pooch would desire - trust me, we have shares in the place !!

Regards

Paul

Dog`s teeth should never need cleaning.Dog is getting wrong type of food, feed it dry food,if it won`t eat it immediately,it will when it is hungry. It`s probably overweight anyway.

Bella is anything but overweight. She is a tall leggy blonde very slim.

Both of our dogs have the same diet, one has very cleann teeth the other - well, they leave a bit to be desired! When I asked our vet she said it is just the same as humans. Some have good teeth, others not so good, even with the same standard of care. Good luck with Bella

does she have bad teeth?

maybe she has an underlying health problem, that can often be a sign?

if not then get someone to bring you a nylabone chew from the uk. its hardened plastic, they can't eat it, but chewing it is good for their teeth.

She is beautiful but to my knowledge she doesn't do tongues! Think maybe suger free polo mints will be the only thing my gorgeous Bella will tolerate. She is probably just missing me but she wouldn't even let me brush her teeth and I have had German Shepherds. Sheba wouldn't let me brush her teeth either!

Hi nurseawful, we were in Mr Pound yesterday and they have heaps of different dog chews - even minty ones. They also had a BIG chew bone that might help Bella and her bad breath problem. Good to hear someone else has a talkative dog
