Warning Triangle etc

Can someone elighten me please.

a) how many warning triangles do you have to carry in the boot of your car

b) Is it right you need to have a fire extinguisher in the car

c) Is there any stipulation as to which make of first aid kit you have to carry.

At this rate I'll need a bigger car just to carry the stuff you need to carry. Where do I put the shopping?

Hi Karen, not sure about the triangles, we thought it was two. Yes you do need a fire extinguisher and we were told the first aid kit has to be a Turkish one.

Our's came from Halfords but hubby was telling me yesterday that someone got stopped and fined for not having a particular make of first aid kit in the car. Absolutely crazy.

The laws cannot specify a certain make but specify what should be available in a first aid kit.

I have not been able to locate the relevant legal document so I will try to find it on Monday and let everyone know about the exact requirements.

Who told you that you need fire extinquisher of Turkish Manufacture? Whoever told you that it must be of Turkish Manufacture needs his brains checked.



I am trying to find out the exact legal requirements but it has proved much more dificult than I imagined. The regulations only go back to the year 2005 on the internet, so no joy there. I looked through all the changes to the regulations with respect to motor vehicles going back 20 years and I could not spot it. The traffic Police Department told me that the relevant paragraph is 49(28) but could not tell me the year that particular paragraph was amended. Anyway, somehow I will get to the bottom of the matter but may be not today.

I was under the impression that you only had to have one triangle...good job I read this website..will be keeping an eye out for what kind of first aid kit we need. We have the extinquisher which was purchased from here so i am hoping it is the right one.
