I have not posted recently, the reason being that certain members are picking up on postings and making completly innapropriate replies to valid queries. I do not feel I need to name names, these people know who they are. The moderators are doing the best that they can but these people persist in their attempts to belittle other posters. Could these posters stop making blatently sexist or pointless comments. If the majority of members of Cyprus44 feel the same, can we please make a stand against these individuals, because I, for one, am fed up with their immature, crude comments. I know I may be setting myself up for these posters to shoot me down in flames, tell me to get a life, etc. etc.........but I feel strongly about this.

I think you have stated what a lot of fed up members have been wanting to say for a while now.

Probably why some members don't bother posting as much now...if at all.

It appears to be a small group of "numpties" take pleasure in posting stupid/childish comments that have nothing to do with the original thread...and as you say, you don't need to name them....they know who they are.

I agree that it is sometimes good to have light hearted banter but of late some of the comments are not "helpful or informative" they are just pointless.

I agree also - they just jeopardise everything - by being so negative why would anyone wish to come to North Cyprus on holiday/permanent after reading all the slagging matches and negativity on here. They obviously have nothing better to do with their lives......

I couldn't agree more. I have seen several posts closed because the original point was lost in the tooing and froing between "enemies" when much more useful information could have been given. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but in the right way at the right time.

Well done PaulW and the other previous five contributors. It is interesting to note that so far none of the people who demean this board has replied.

However, they will do, their egos would not let them do otherwise, but at least we will know who they are.

Well done Paul. It really does put people of North Cyprus when the nastiness is all you see on here especially when a serious question has been asked. If its a jokey post then fair enough but as my Mum used to say if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything as all unless its directly at the person that matters.

Reading these boards you would think NC is a place full of whinging brits who want it alllike it is at home, that NC is a really bad place to live etc etc.

Thank you for your refreshing post.

We ll said Paul, I passed the same type of comment on another thread because I am sick and fed up of every post being hijacked by these idiots. Good to see the mods are tackling the issue before the board just disintegrates into one of the level we have seen on other forums with foul language and personal attacks as the norm.

I always report any abuse - even 'low level' abuse that looks like it may escalate

Remember that Mods are not on-line all the time, and that they cannot read every post, so it is up to the Members to report abuse when it occurs

The Golden Rule is: Do Not Respond to Abuse On The Forum - just report it to Izzet and the mods via email

I admit that I am not perfect in this regard, and sometimes fail to resist the urge to 'strike back' - as it used to say in my school reports 'Should try harder...'

I have put all the mods email addresses (as far as I can find them) in an email 'group' together with Izzet, so that if I want to report anything, I just email the lot in one go, and usually at least one of them will respond in pretty short order

They may well get a bit sick of me 'bending their ears', but (so far) they have remained good humoured and responsive

I will ask Izzet if he can make the list of email addresses easily accessible, or devise some other system to report abuse

Why raise at all to the baiting as, when these 'numpties' tell you off for spelling, grammer, your thoughts, just give them back childish remarks, most cannot cope with this. I think its quite funny, as mostly they are boring people any way.

Post what you like, it should all be taken into context, some cant handle that, some can, but its just like that in the human race, be they --- Dutch,English, Russian Irish, Scottish!

You dont need to report these people, thats sad, I got told off for putting lol and xxx, if they dont like, tough!

Funny isnt it, that nobody thinks its them!!! live and let live I say, Iv had a few try and put me down on several occasions, sometimes its the ladies who are sarcastic for no reason! Sticking up for friends etc.

If someone puts up a complaint or just something that has happened to them, so be it. Thats what discussion forums are for, surely.

Dont take every thing so seriously, no one will kill you, (we hope). mind you havnt seen a certain Dr on here of late? have 'they' got him?. lol

Paul, I agree with you.

Whilst I denjoy reading the humour and sometimes this does cause a thread to go off the topic occassionally, which is inevitable, I do find rude and aggressive postings totally unacceptable and as such I move on pass them, in fact I very rarely read the all the postings because you can see where they are heading ..... a slanging match.

I do not want to 'not' visit this forum as there are some super people on here that are always willing to help out or pass on valid advice and where I can I also try to do so.

I like a laugh as much as the next person, I will also go off thread sometimes. But what I am objecting to are the posters who think they are funny at others expense. The down right smutty posters and the very bigoted posters. As I said before they know who they are. Thank you all who agreed with me for your support.

I promise when the situation arises I'll lighten up.

Actually I love it when one part of the thread goes 'off subject', and there are 2 or 3 simultaneous conversations going on - it's a bit like being at a dinner table, and trying to earwig what everybody else is talking about, and I really don't think that it should be a reason for closing a thread down by itself, only if it gets 'nasty'...

Anyway, the mods have agreed that I can post this address: - forumadmins(at)cyprus44(dot)com

An email to that address will go to ALL of the mods, and Izzet, so whoever is 'on duty' as it were, can take a quick look at whatever is concerning you, and decide if anything needs doing.

Don't forget, they aren't reading every post, all day, every day - but with your help, they can be alerted early on, before things go too far.

Keith

(I have edited the address on Izzets advice to stop spam. Hopefully you can all still work it out. Harold)

Paulw, you carry on posting my dear, why the heck should a few put you off, we all like to read what others have to say, some of the debates on here are very good. Some get a little persional, but hey, we can rise above that, sometimes perhaps we deserve a ticking off, sometimes someone is just purely bigoted.

Come on, we want you to post,

I haven't seen very many threads get nasty. The mod's always step in if anyone is 'that' out of order.

The 'side' conversations are 'sort of' like the advertisments between programmes on the TV.

Some members do get 'obsessed' with others and follow them round 'disagreeing.'

Imagine for a minute, the difficult job of 'moderating.'

Oh, thought Mrs Mongers feet would be quite good for a cheese grater. Yup, put foot onto a chair, grate cheesey skin at back heel until bleed, scrape scrappings into pan, boil or fry with onions, spread on toast, there you have it scrappings on toast!! lol

Well done PaulW!

At last someone speaks out what a lot of people are thinking!

I've been in many conversations in my visits to TRNC about Cyprus44, and there are a LOT of people who say they just can't be arsed with it anymore. So much whingeing, backbiting, nastinness, and also the 'Clique' (you should know who you are) just get on everyone's nerves. When I first joined, this used to be a good forum, with lots of useful info and advice, but it just seems to have degenrated into a competition to be the most prolific, obnoxious, rude poster on the board.

I rarely post for the above reasons. It really p*sses me off to see a perfectly pertinent question being answered with the load of senseless drivel that seems to have become the norm!

A good guideline!!!!! Look at some of the 'Top Posters' some of whom joined only a few months ago and have 3000+ posts. They are either extremely helpful people, or seriously need to get a life(if you don't know who you are, go into top posters and

do the maths!

3000 posts in 6 months = 500 posts per month=16.129 posts per day(on a 31 day month!)

Assuming these sad people are taking 5 minutes per post reading up and responding, thats 80.645 mins per day talking what amounts to little more than drivel on their computers. I rest my case.

If in my posts, I have made spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, please feel free to pillory me, but I've just come home from 'The Olde White Horse' where I have consumed copious amounts of Sam Smiths Bitter. Do I care about a few sad people who think they have all the answers? Do I F**k

Well done PaulW! It's good to get that off my chest!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey come on you lot does it matter how many posts anyone does, or are you saying its got to be policed as to how many posting any one can do? Is any one is actually counting the posts? No wonder the forum is loosing people, live and let live, this is not meant to upset any one, just that it beggers belief that the bitching is still going on, lol

Just to put things into perspective, I find this site still very useful regarding info, you post and get many good replys, sometimes posts repeat but on the whole its, I think it is a great forum.

If folks take offence at stuff, you get that every where as we are not all the same, be boring if we were. I think that if I had been of weaker stuff I might have given up as Jeanie was rather rude to me in the beggining, for what ever reason, but I dont think she or I worry about such stuff, so as I say we are all so different. lol

To be honest,

I was initially unsure about negativenick, positive pete, and maybe mike - not to mention the Mongers...

However, they've become a bit of a fixture now, and if I find that nn is being rather too daft even for me, I can always skip it, and look at the next thread.

As far as 'in' jokes go, I'm probably one of the offenders, but I can't resist teasing the likes of Vaughan, Hans and Brinsley - though I never seem to get much of a 'rise' out of them (except that Hans has taken to texting me a 'warning' every time he goes to Paparas for a coffee...)

I think that as long as folks who are looking for information get reasonable answers, and nobody gets too snotty, a bit of humour helps things along.

It can go too far, of course, and actually upset someone - I've got carried away on occasion, and then you just have to acknowledge where you've overstepped the line, and apologise.

Keith.

RE msg 63, keithcaley: Update (also via sms): At "Guido's" now. Double espresso & icecold water. Bought excellent ham and real salami. Ordered table for two to have lobster. Doing fine. Groet! Hans

P.S. I'll keep you informed.

I think I'm in the Keith camp. As long as there is no offence, a few jokes don't do any harm.

It's right that serious posts get answers that inform and help them and others.

However, I don't think it damaged the serious enquiry regarding algae in the swimming pool for me to post"Algy in the swimming pool, does Biggles know"

No1, Now you know that's a silly question, as we all know that once joined a person can't actually leave, no matter how much they want to.

teatime. )

From time to time we get people on here stating "thats why a lot of people have left the forum and gone elsewhere...."

I just want to know how many people have actually left the Forum and gone elsewhere, it's a simple question for firestarter to answer as clearly she has the figures.
