Welcome to the forum, you should do as much research as you can before you leave including contacting estate agents and builders before flying out but be warned if you buy offplan like a lot of us have done you'll find it a slow and in a lot of cases agonising process,if i started over it would be a house that is already built.

Good luck Paul.

Hi Cruggs and welcome

I'm probably being a bit thick here but what sign posts are you looking for? All of the villages are well sign posted, at least around Girne area. Or are you saying you want For Sale boards outside of the houses.

You should rent for at least 6-12 months before you move to North Cyprus (indeed this applies to any where in the world), you might not like it:-

the weather might not suit you

and where would you be if you had moved

cost of living may be too high

you could find it difficult to get a job

There are so many things to consider.

Many people rent first then purchase

paulnicholas.

thank you for your reply to my question it was more of an observation than

a complaint. but did not know which blog to put it under, have done research in

uk into properties and locations in nc.through estate agents. but needed to view

locations and areas also.properties in these areas, found loads of building sites

but no information on who they were being sold by.on sites .no problem finding

large developments as well sign posted in the main.will be looking for resale villa or bungalow in karsiyaka area. hope the house prices dont fall when we

arrive. thanks ,for your info paul .h a n d

hi thanks for your comments. no i dont think your thick perhaps i did not

explain my self properly in the first place.we had no problem finding villages

as you say they are well sign posted, but the problem was that you would drive down an unmade road and find villas or bungaolws that we liked but were

unable,to contact any estate agents or builders as there were no telephone no,

or sales signs to enquire about them. hope, this lifts the fog.

lol now im abreviating thanks once again kazzie.

Hi Cruggs

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes I agree, we had similar problems when we were looking. We found a type of house being built which we liked but were unable to find out who the selling agent was. We tried speaking to the builders but in those days they didn't speak any English at all.

Good luck with your search.

I agree with the comments above about renting though.

Bear in mind that if you find a plot of land you could always design and have built your own property.

orangekazzi.

thanks for your quick reply. i can see the logic about renting a property for a while but in our case this would not apply as we need to sell our home in uk

to purchase in nc and off plan we would not consider as to the time scales they seem to take to build to completion? thanks once again for your reply

must go now as typing finger hurting have a nice day kazzi thanks

I can understand why you would be looking around Karsiyaka, well away from the crowds of Kyrenia but near enough if you want to go in.

There are new and resale homes on both the sea side and the mountain side of the main road and it is just a case of going around and seeing what takes your fancy. If something does then speak to someone in the locality who can let you know who you need to talk to.

hi lovingcyprus,

yes i can see the wisdom of your words in renting for several months but we are selling up in uk to move to n/cyprus once we have sold our home here. in uk the way things are going in the uk we would be paupers in a few years,

as to the weather, were you over here last summer!! even the ducks were fed

up with it, though you cant blame the goverment for that? what with spiraling

food prices utility bills stealth taxes i could go on but this not a political agender. as too working in nc i have been working in the building trade for the

last 30 years and my wife, works at the moment in the national health service.

we intend to semi/retire but if we do get work there it will be by legal means.thanks for your time and advice. have a (iyi aksamlar) thanks again

I have bought a villa in Lapta by the Sempati Hotel, the builder is renowned, his workmanship is very good (high standard), I would recommend him. He is starting a new site in Karsiyaka. Also his prices are very reasonable. If you are interested I will get you some details.

Try Ian Smiths Estate agents. They are great. You should have no problems.

Kate or Margot. Google them and you will find they have a 0800 UK number

Thanks

driving past it on our adventures to view properties in nc.

Hello

Regarding builder/Developers/Estate Agents etc. Anglo Cyprus Homes, Medview Homes and Busy Bees have all been really helpful to us. They all have websites. Busy Bees are an estate agent, medview are developers, builders and advertise their own villas, they are the biggest developer in North Cyprus and i have spoken to the son of the owner and they have been incredibly helpful., they have quite a few sites that they are building and the villas etc look beautiful. Anglo I am dealing with at the moment and they are also very helpful and professional. Hope this helps you a bit.... im a beginner myself. Good luck.
