Les Paul died yesterday aged 94. He was one of the worlds best guitar designers that ever lived, he designed the legendary Gibson les paul back in 1941, still one of the best guitars today..every young boys dream of owning a gibson les paul, certainly mine anyway, had such a major influence on musicians all over the world R.I.P LES PAUL

There were some really nice tributes to him today on TV in the UK. Including a vid of him in his late 80's still stroking his guitar with feeling.

Also a vid of a certain J Hendrix playing the 'Star Spangled Banner' at Woodstock on a Gibson LP. Classic.

Many don't know he was also the original inventor of Multi Track recording, which changed music forever.

What a great man, what a great life. RIP.

Yes, legendary Guitar, My dad was one of the first people in the UK to import container loads of Gibson and Fender copies, in the early 70,s, Japanese of course, Copies yes but very very good, under the Cleartone name, But we also sold the reall thing, I don,t play really but I can tune one pitch perfect by hear, I loved the Gibson SG, don,t remember the exact colour name , but it was a deep wine red, one of you guitarists will know,

yes very good, but hendrix always played an upside down fender stratocaster, thought you were gonna show footage of him playing a les paul which he undoubtably did at sometime or another.. lol

Perhaps I'd better ignore the BBC and learn more about guitars at the O2 in Greenwich:
