a lady needs blood urgently. she is in lefkosa state hospital and her name is katy manning. if your blood types positively against o rhesus+ it is welcome. this is an emergency. please remember this could happen to you. there is no organised blood bank on this island and the british residents society is useless. you will get no help from any organised (sic) body. you`re on your own.

I thought that if you were a member of the BRS then they provided the "swap" of blood.

The brs can only try and facilitate the process. If you are not on their register then you are on your own. In the case of Kitty Manning some people have already given blood therefore they are not allowed to donate more.

oh kantara , if someone needs blood , they need it , whether it be for operation or haemorrage or amaemia , i am sorry i cant help i'm negative low titre and not out there until the 24th april . i do hope someone can help this lady .

hi kantara , why should it make any difference ? as a medic myself ,its purely a question that interests me , its quite interesting that different countries have different criterias for such , could be life saving procedures ,

but this is Cyprus.

And the system is a bit different here.



Unfortunately it is difficult to get blood.

Even from the helping societies here.



Since many years we try to improve this sytem.

Just a thought, if there is such a shortage of blood for transfusions etc, has nobody thought of assimilating the information of anybody that would be willing to give a pint in an emergency, which could be stored on a database, along with contact details, which could be accessed by hospitals in need, overseen by an administrator?

I would be totally distraught if somebody I knew died through lack of a donor, especially family friends or visitors
