Sorry Liz my dear friend

But this is one celebration I wont be coming to, there are so many Ex Pat families on this Island that have been forced to either sell up or move away because of the restrictions or legalities etc did we have collections for them.

It will probably be ME next year as I dont have the so called thousands in my bank which they require so they will probably turn down my Residency and I would be forced to move even though I own my property and car

So why is everyone jumping on the band wagon about this case when there are thousands here who are struggling I could go on and on

I do wish you luck with your Evening and I think you are doing a wonderful thing.

Of course I feel sorry for Gez and his family but he knew he didn't have the correct paperwork to Own a shop and yet he went and opened his Salon.

Hi Vicki

Thanks for that, but not decided on anything just yet, it will all boil down to when I next apply for Residency (end of Sept) whether they accept what I have in the bank or not, it just makes me so angry as we know and accept that we dont get or want handouts we buy our properties/car etc but they still want this and that, and make it so hard for us to live here. I just want someone to tell me why you have to have so much in the bank what difference does it make to the state, we are not asking for their help, I have two sons for that.

Hi Sheila, This may be illegal and I am sure someone will tell me off, could you 'borrow' the amount you need for the residency renewal then give it back after? Maybe from your Son's? As long as you have enough to live on it should be ok?

Hi Vicki/yorqozlu

When I went with my Son to Lefkosa to do my Residency last year, they moaned about insufficient funds in my bank, although telling them I have a UK account and took copy statements, but they said that i would need at least £10,000 I had all the necessary paperwork, so I asked to see the Manager who spoke pretty good English, my Son said look she owns her place and has ample money coming in to live on and we put money into her bank each month to help out. So he said OK this time

When he mentioned the £10,00 my son said to him I can put £10,00 into my Mums account next year so that she wont have this worry again, he said that cant be done as it has to be moving ie paying out bills paying in etc

so at my wits end what to do this year.

If not they can stick this Island and I will sell up and go back, so I am sick of hearing about people who have not got all the right paperwork, and I do everything by the book, look where it gets you

I Know Nick

But I am waiting until I have been to the residency office and seen the outcome, then I will panic if not will see what happens after Christmas. if the Government make it hard for us what is the option, you work all your life and settle over here, then they throw eggs at you, will know in a month or two what the outcome is.

Then I dont have a choice, but will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Sheila, I think I would just get more money in your account and 'play ignorance' as long as the money is in place, and you see someone different at the residency renewal it should be OK.

I really do hope everything goes right for you, I can imagine the stress this could cause.

Sheila

get the money paid in a month before you apply that way it wont show as a lump on your statement, just as a total carried forward mixed in with paying-ins and outs.

Sheila, I think you are right when you say that they have to see that money is going in and out. It's not enough just to have a lump sum. I know of someone else who had this problem. Had a lump sum , but the immigration couldn't see how they were living as no money was going in or out. As matter of interest, how is someone living if no money is going in or out? If you have a lump sum, then normally it would be on deposit, and you would be getting interest which you draw out each month to live on. This is what immigration want to see, unless you have a pension comng in each month.

Depending on the amount, you can say you were living off the monthly interest?

Stella/yorguzlu

Yes I have my Pension and my sons payment going into my UK account each month which I draw out to pay bills/food etc, so i dont see a problem thats what I live on each month, leaving the other in the high Interest to pay my KDV thats all, so thats what I dont understand I have money to live on etc why do I have to have £10,000

thanks for all the info, but as its due the beg of october, I will have to take all the paperwork from my bank in the UK and act ignorant. which wont be too hard

Oh Sheila bless you. I hope it all works out for you and if I was you I would take Vaughan's advice and get your sons to pay in 10K the month before and then withdraw the interest to show that the account is active.

If i am still here I will help too...I have to say that the whole bank thing is exagerated, they were quite happy with my uk bank statements and i dont think i had more than £500 in at anyone time, they were my ex's maintenence payments, they looked at it took copies and were quite happy..

I do agree however that it is all crazy... there is no welfare system here for us to tap into, so i dont see the problem...

Just for the record and before Hoppi explains unsaid and unwritten statements again his unfair way.

The Sad Crusader again wishes to pour despair on a good board member wishing to do something for less fortunate then himself.

Our good benevolent friends Lilli and Guido are doing this out of the goodness in their hearts and will provide the dinner only at cost any profit will be donated to the fund I presume.

The clientele that night will we hope donate much more.

Why do you always see ulterior motives in peoples posts, sorry Sad crusader 'you really have lost the plot remember my Orange friend ' we stick together us colonials'

Perhaps you will donate the profits of a hundred maps to the cause?

=> Dear colonial dynosaur, your "good benevolent friends Lilli and Guido" don't even know who you are. Good for them and certainly better for you, I think.

P.S. I think my Italian friend Guido would like to meet you. Why don't you leave the safety of your computer and pay him a visit face to face?

Like most of the Dutch Nation ,Sad Crusader you want others to sort your problems out for you.

If Guido or Lilli would like to see me its not very hard.

Keep your finger in the Dike Hans like the water Your time is slowly running out.

And by the way dynosaur is spelt Dinosaur

Hi japeal

Thanks again for the info, I think now and then they pick on someone I had that in my account last year they wasn't going to accept it but did in the end, even though I showed them my HSBC UK account with money coming in and out, fingers crossed, but whats the worse they can do, so many on the Island are not doing their Residencies at all just hopping back and forth, I do it all by the book and they still make it hard for me. i will know by mid October

thanks again
