Does anyone have any information/experience of CCTV as a means of adding extra security to a large site. We have no knowledge of what this may involve and what it may cost ? Also is it an effective deterent ? Does anybody have any recommendations, contact details or a web address we could look at.

Many thanks.

Hi Mick

More questions first :(..

How big is the site?

How many cameras do you want ?

Do you want infra red capability - to view in black and white at night ?

Do you want to view what is going on locally / via the net ?

Do you need for the cameras to move ?

Is this permanent or temporary?

Is it going to be watched 24/ 7

What's your budget ?

Hi Mick if you contact Cevdet (pronounced with a J) he can help he has installed camera and alarm systems all over girne.

His number is 0533 8621603.

If you dont know what you want you would need to talk to him first and tell him what you are trying to achieve and he will guide you.

Thanks everyone.

OK... this is off the top of my head but to give a bit more detail.....

It's a big site but I guess we'd be looking at a small number of cameras to cover the main roads that feed the site (but maybe only 2, 1 at each entrance). I guess they would need to be infra red. The info would need to be recorded in case an incident occurred, but not monitored 24/7 or watched on the net. I guess we'd go for fixed cameras on a permanent fixing. No idea of a budget at the moment, just seeing whats out there.

Jock, sorry can't see your email address, feel free to contact if you can see mine.

Ultimatley we'd be looking to put this in the hands of our MC to implement so we're just fact finding at the moment. Keep the info coming, guys. Thanks.

If you can supply a site layout and coverage required they will be more than happy to quote. Installation and maintainance in the TRNC is not a problem. Contact Dave Cummings Sales Director.

Hi Mick

From what you've said you can start with a £450 quid system with 4 Cameras, HDD recording syscon box - self installed - if you know someone who can install a simple computer network - would be a "deterent"..

You coulds pend ten times that ..

The problem is if the site is unmanned, someone can still access the site and disable the cameras, and the syscon box.

The extra costs are providing the off site viewing facility - ( good, fast, reliable - internet connection needed) and electricy back up - to cope with power cuts - whether deliberate, or just part of living in Cyprus ;)

From what you are saying you, need a lot of ancillary equipment.
