There's a lot of unhappy people in the trnc at the moment - most of them wishing they were somewhere else.

Think back to when you first came here. What made you buy a property here or for some what made you move here permanently?

More importantly what has changed so dramatically that you want to get out of here?

I think there are a lot of folk who use the forum, who are unhappy, but I think there are thousands who are too busy

being happy to be sitting in front of a screen saying how unhappy they are..if you get my drift.

Coming on the forum and reading how unhappy some people are, makes one kind of wonder if you're happy or not.

Am I making any sense to anyone..I havent been drinking ..really.

I agree Nick, a good proportion of people were lured by the cheap prices.

I'm here because I was sick of being a second class citizen in the UK, sick of being taxed up to the eyeballs, but most of all because, it IS a beautiful place here, most of the people are lovely, the weather is fantastic and I absolutely love it.

We all have a moan and groan now and then but I bet not many want to leave really when everything is taken into account.

I bought because I have friends in the TRNC, wanted to visit regularly & because I believed what the estate agent told me, not having any reason not to i.e. legal system based on UK law, PTP a mere formality ...

The "TRNC-rumour-and-gossip-machine": at the moment this is the score: two Brits (retired expats and businessmen) are leaving TRNC, one Brit entering. Interesting if it's true. I hope some Cyprus Today reporter will read this. May make a better story than todays column about the problems of the Turkey chicken industry (page 13).

Hi Bill,

Peace contentment. We thought we could make a contribution. Who would not be seduced by the jewel of the Mediteranean?.

That Sir, is the answer to your question.

Reality..................Nah! Dont lets go there!

Well said Hattikins,

I love it here too. Maybe I'm lucky, but I do believe if you're not a happy person, then no matter where you are you'll always find something to moan about. I'm too busy enjoying life to keep moaning. Yes, we're short of water, but we'll get over it. If I remember rightly, there was plenty to man about there too.

''The grass is always greener on the other side'' comes to mind.

We have been here for just over 6 years and still love it. The weather is fantastic, the people are (still) lovely, okay you get a few that are not.

We have never once regretted our move, and we now have no connection with UK, other than family and friends, nor have we regretted buying a property here, whether that will change after the Orams decision, we will have to wait and see.

Yes, we have had a few problems but have been fortunate enough, unlike alot of people on this forum, to find people who have been extremely helpful with regards to builders, solicitors, electricians etc etc etc.

Okay, occassionally my husband finds it frustrating dealing with the legalalities of being here but I am more laid back and smile and take my time. I do most things 'yavas yavas' style!!

Worked bloody hard in UK.for 40years.Fed up of taxes,bills.etc.and that unpredictable weather.

Had many holidays on mainland Turkey,so decided on N.Cyprus.Been here nearly a year and love everyday.

Get up in the morning, put shorts on 'cos it IS sunny outside.Walk around the garden, see all the new flowers.

Have a swim in the warm pool, plan the day. Some weeding to do,maybe tomorrow"yarin".

Sweep the patio all those jasmin flowers!!!MMMM heady.

Bought my house nearly 10years ago.Same price as small flat in UK,but here I have a lemon grove, flowers, vegetables, fruit all year.

Windows left open at night, car unlocked on the drive...

Well off to the shop, local bread to die for, less than 50p,packet of fags, yes you can smoke here!!about a £.

Brandy,£3 a bottle.

It will be sunny and 35deg plus for over 5 days.!!!!

Northern Cyprus to me is a rehearsal for heaven.

....and in 5 weeks my fiancee is here, for ever, and she loves N.C. as much

Hey NN, do you practice being cynical in front of a mirror?

My wife and I had been looking in quite a few different parts of the world for a place to live, hopefully in peace, quiet and contentment, and in a very nice setting. We tried China, Malaysia, Thailand, Africa and the Middle East, as it was too expensive to live in Australia (yes, it isn't only Brits who come to TRNC...). A colleague mentioned Cyprus, so we toured all over the south before coming north, and discovered a place in Esentepe that had everything and more we wanted.

Of course the price was the first thing we looked at...isn't it always? But for cynics like NN I can honestly state it wasn't the only thing. It involved all those things mentioned by Mikelapta, as well as, for us, fresh and clean air, clear water, lovely people and a view on clear days of the mountains of Turkey on the horizon.

"Unspoilt beauty" isn't tosh, mate, it's very real around where we now live.

Better to be a foreigner in a foreign country than to be treated like one in your homeland that's why I moved over here with no regrets.

I do not steal from the state, live here illegally, do not ask council tax payers for money to fund places of worship, plant bombs on buses, do not boo and hiss at my hosts national sporting teams.

bought in the TRNC to have a bolt hole from the uk and forget about all the problems for a few weeks, and also to get away from all those negative moaning Brits who only complain when there is a y in a day.

Suppose one out of two aint bad...................

We fell in love with the place, for all the problems (most past) we would not give it up.

We add to the economy, we want nothing from the benefits system. Worked hard and will enjoy what time is left.

mr nn you do talk a load of b......s ,why are you still in my country if you hate it so much

stop going on about how you only moved there because of cheap prices ,as rottolover

put,s it to you there are many countries ,far cheaper than the kktc ,go and find one .

the reason you moved there is too suck the life out of the country, this is why you constantly

gripe about interest rates ,you want the country to give ,give ,give.

why don,t you move back to the uk ,and please do not give people excuses ,about how you

can,t afford too.

cyprus is a paradise with so much beauty ,so stop knocking it .

ps

i have heard that there are some cheap properties in ghana and the interest rates are out of this

world, how about it.

Mus Ithink in general we all came here for the property prices initially, but have learned to love this place for all it's flaws. Many of us have burnt our bridges and are perhaps a bit concerned ;like you are perhaps, as to what the future holds.

I bought a property here as a holiday home, intending to spend a few weeks of the year enjoying the sunshine. Luckily for me, circumstances have changed and I can spend months as opposed to weeks here. I've fallen in love with the place and don't want to go back to the UK. The lifestyle is so different, no stress, no one rushing around, no targets, no deadlines, everyone has the time of day for a chat. The pro's are endless, and the negatives can wait another day......sheer bliss

MUSIN B/Msg28: If you are 'rich', perhaps you would like to buy a beautiful (properly built!) pre '74 TT property in the best street in Girne - a snip at £250K - no offers. You will never find a better location!
