Went into the Telecom building on Monday, paid 200TL connection fee, was told they would ring in two days time. Today at 7.50 am got a phone call to say they would be coming after 9 am to install my landline, 9,05 am two men arrived to carry out the work and by 10 am my phone was connected, how's that for service.

Excellent! Have they got more landlines available now? I thought the problem was that they had run out hence the explosion of mobile phone use, presumably because the telephone exchanges couldn't handle any more.

I,m not sure, we were told by our neighbour that there was a line available in the street so popped in on the off chance and heh presto !!!!

passports,national insurance numbers,dates of birth,nationality,address,previous address,bank details,inside leg measurement,big wad of cash,stand on one leg for 5 mins whilst telling jokes!! lol.

Went to the Telecom building opposite main post office in Girne, paperwork required was copy of passport and Kocan, contract of sale is acceptable I believe. Very helpful people with good understanding of English for those of us who have yet to master Turkish.
