These dogs were poisoned whilst in there own kennels on their owners land, someone actually took the trouble to go on to private land and push poisoned luncheon meat through the bars of each of the kennels. It is sick and the person responsible deserves to be strung up. Whilst i was in the vet the other day the owner came in with 2 of the surviving dogs, who thank goodness were doing ok...what is it going to take to get the law changed here and make people accountable for their actions?

cyprusairsoft, have you ever had to watch a dog be put to sleep? painless injection? did the dog tell you this? i have experience of have to have my beloved dog put to sleep, its not quick and i would think not painless either. ( i don't know if they use different drugs to do it here, than the uk)? i would never do it again, my thoughts are that if needed i would give it an overdose of sleeping tablets, the kindest way.

Thats very sad firestarter. I had my cat put to sleep many many years ago but he just laid on my lap and literally "went to sleep". Perhaps your dog had an allergic reaction to the drug? My late husbands friend, (a shootin' fishing kind of guy) used to shoot his springers when they were ready to go. He would give them a biscuit and quickly do the deed.

hi adagirl, it was dreadfull, it probably took about 30-60 seconds to work, the look in her eyes told me this wasn't kind or painless. she had a brain tumor and she was getting worse and becoming quite dangerous, it was the only thing we could have done for her. i do feel like i failed her when she needed me most, because it was the way we and our vet thought best. never again. i agree taking her and shooting her would have been more humane or an overdose. i know i will never fail any of my dogs again when the time comes.

I have had 3 dogs put to sleep over the last 30 yrs and it does not get any easier, the last one had to be sedated first and then given the jab,its so sad to see these poor dogs in their own kennels poisened,i lost one 18 months ago,a stray who i took in and fed and loved him only for me to lose him to some b-----d who thought he had the right to put poisen down willy nilly, its time for the goverment to ban all poisens

Can anyone explain to me , just why someone is poisoning dogs like this? Is this a cultural thing - hating dogs? Is it a health thing? A noise thing? Or does someone get a perverse pleasure out of doing this?

Hector, i think maybe it's all of the reasons you stated. However, it stems from the strays worrying the chickens, sheeep and goats etc etc...I understand that these farmers, small holders etc must protect their bread and butter, but poisoning is definitely not the way to go! DD
