Are you Fed Up with the noise from the Disco's from Ice, Five Mile and Escape?

A petition was handed into Girne District Office complaining not just about the noise level but also continuing past there licence time of 3am.

Directed to the Inspector at Lapta Police a meeting was held yesterday where he stated that they have many complaints about music in the area as a whole and they do there best to control. Inspector stated that the public MUST continue to complain even in the early hours by telephoning the police on 0392 8212651.

The more complaints the better

Well done 'doggie' - yes we are fed up not only with them but other bars & restaraunts in the Alsancak area.

We also sought advice from the D.O.and were told to complain to the police about the volume, and if any exceed permitted hours, it would appear they want us to inform police about any transgressions. In our case it was Lapta police on 03928218512.

Other threads on this board have voiced this problem before, so there must be others who are affected.

Great lets get all the bars, discos & restaurants closed down.. !! We sometimes have to learn to live with whats around us, there are many people employed in the food & entertainments sector, these people have family's to feed, debts to pay etc...

Lets remember that not every person on the island is over 50, therefore the younger generation needs some form of entertainment, I also believe it can keep them out of trouble & mischief...

Music being played from an open air club can echo for miles around so tollerance is the key word on this one..

Stonehouse.....obviously you have a vested interest in this business, but your comment "Lets remember that not every person on the island is over 50" does you no favours.

It doesn't matter whether you are 20 or 60 , loud music bellowing out until the early hours should not have to be tolerated if it transgresses the local by-laws.

dont have a problem with it either, buy some earpugs or choose to live in a quieter area, ie karpas if peace and quiet is what you want, they have to cater for all ages.

I don't think anyone would want to see bars clubs closed down, consideration is the key word not tollerance consider those that don't want to hear noise throughout the night, outdoor disco's need to move inside at a reasonable time. Those that want to party can those that want to sleep can, would that be so difficult?

You shoud have been in earshot of IBOs bar last night. Not only the loud msic but cars causing a road blockage. Complain He works for Lapta police. No chance. Yet they manage to close anyone else at midnight

Hi Lilli,

We saw a lot of cars by Ibos bar last night but they were actually gathering for a wedding up at Club Simena.

As for bars making noise, has anyone noticed that Hilltop is playing music very loud until all hours, so bad that I rang them at 1am the other night to ask them to switch it down. Of course there is going to be noise from bars, it is a holiday island after all but if they could finish at a reasonable hour it would be appreciated.

Hi Lilli

you are right there are always lots of cars at Ibos and very loud music, but Ibo does not work for the police, he works in the Belediyse, but I have never seen the police go to him. It's not what you know it's who you know!

Kyrenia is gradually becoming another Aya Napa and people like Stonehouse are the very people who will encourage it in order to promote their business - how many more bars and restaurants do we need?.

Unfortunately from my experience when I was there a couple of weeks ago the rot has really set in and the "young" will impose their will on the rest of us as they are doing in the UK. Not just the loud music at all hours but the morons in "boy racer" cars who caused the new bypass to be cordoned off.

The real problem is that the "morons" parents are also morons and indulge their little darlings. As in the UK where everone blames the police when the real problem is lack of parental control and leadership.

With you on that one Nick.... Esentepe!!!! Middle of nowhere isn't it, well not quite, but peace perfect peace all the same. We don't even hear a dog bark around our way just the occasional Owl hooting. just heavenly, although I must admit to hearing a strange gurgling sound one tea time, maybe it was your mates missus was on her way to get her dinner.

Littlejohn,

Kyrenia has 1 disco, Alsancak has 1 disco & Catalkoy has 1 disco, I do not think that makes Kyrenia another Ayia napa...

We need to bare in mind that kyrenia is actually the trnc's hub of tourism (believe it or not), wheather you like it or not there are also youngsters on the island & there demands also need to be met.. In saying that entertainment on the island is still very limited...

We have to also consider the fact that Kyrenia is a developing town and if we want to compete will other tourism centres we have to prorgress, and yes I will always encourage progress...

Disco's, bar's, pub's & restaurants are a great way for people to socialise, make friends & de-charge...

Your comments regards boy racers are totally correct they endanger themselves and other road users but again this is not a Kyrenia issue, its everywhere in the world, there will always be boy racers...

kindest regards

Ozi

So what's wrong with indoor air-conditionned, soundproof clubs? The traffic around ICE can be horrendous when the club is operating, must be plenty of drink driving going on there! I have no quarrel with youngsters enjoying themselves (I was one once) but respect must be shown for local residents and there are plenty who have to get up for work the next morning, they're not all retired or on holiday.
