http://www.cyprus-mail.com/news/main.php?id=47413&cat_id=1 Will there be an expectation that Turkey deals with this through their property commission? Presumably the Orthodox church will claim for a substantial number of properties and land in the North? Could this put Turkey under serious financial pressure? How will Turkey deal with this? What impact if any will this have on the negotiations?

Will the church be able to supply their Title Deeds? If not then why should they be entertained.

mark it,s just more of the same ,as i said in a previous thread you can only push so far ,turkey is a powerful animal and we all know what happens if you trap a powerful animal in a corner it becomes dangerous, something the gc,s have to be aware of and i,m sure they are. the negotiations are just window dressing ,the north is the north and the south is the south,we tc,s have come to terms with this, now it,s time for the gc,s to realize it. however i believe we may have to go backwards in order to move forward,IF the gc,s continue not to come to terms. musin long live the kktc

ilovecyprus, a very emotional issue for many. In reality if all displaced GC's applied to the IPC for compensation, let alone the churches, Turkey would certainly be under serious financial pressure. Look at the amounts being paid out so far for so few cases. It has already cost millions. Yet I still think the IPC is the way forward rather than the ECHR's and the legal process. I wait to hear of any decisions reached by the IPC, regarding houses and land that are currently occupied by foreigners. So far only unoccupied land has been returned and financial restitution offered. Which is possibly why the GC's do not see the IPC as a viable option. Why is it that when ever I read comments from the Greek Orthodox Church, I rarely see a humanitarian angle, just hatred? Religion and politics do not mix and in my opinion the very people who harp on about forgiveness and neighbourly love and everyone being God's children are the very ones that just do not display these attributes

Will the ECHR bow to political expedience again - as with the Orams' case? I wonder how much more Turkey can, or indeed, be expected to take before certain people get 'the gypsies' warning'?
