Not that we are big drinkers but it is nice to know that the odd drink is not going to get you in hot water. Thanks.

| It is the same as UK but because NC is not recognised in the UK you will only get a ban in NC and not in the UK as well (so I've been told). Since hubby got stopped a few years ago(he wasn't drunk but had had more than he would have in the UK) it put the frighteners up him we tend not to drink if we are driving now or if we do we limit it to one. | Drink and driving should be classed as manslaughter, and you get people moaning about smoking in bars, the mind boggles. |

I quite like the odd drink myself, but afraid that I am a definite devotee of the don't drink and drive brigade. By all means do one or the other, but not both together. Enough maniacs on the road as it is.

Unfortunatley SamDil you'll never convince the locals not to drink and drive. We've seen people unable to stand and still get in a car and drive home. Karen

Karen Your right We were out having a meal not so long ago at the Capitano when this local rolled in with his ancient Renault pi***d as a fart. Honestly he could hardly stand, when we left we let all the air out of his tyres and disappeared quickly. 20 minutes later while we were having a nightcap at the Grumpy Grouse here was this Renault crawling along the road at 5mph heading toward Girne. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! Jim

I remember many many years ago having a right skinfull at a country pub on the Isle of Wight with my girlfriend and after leaving her parent's place I was chased by a beat up old white Police van who took an interest to me as I drove through Newport in the early hours of the morning. After 10 minutes I managed to loose him in my souped up little mini and shot off home to Ryde. The next morning it all dawned on me and I thought I'd better go and hand myself in, so to speak. When I went outside I noticed my mini had lost its back number plate! I stuck a bit of card in my rear window with the reg and drove over to my girlfriend's parent's house and found my plate on the road outside. No wonder the tired old plod had wanted to pull me in with no number plate! And of course no knock on the door as my mini couldn't be traced. Amazing the affect a blue flashing light has on a nipper's reactions even after a skinfull of ale. There's a moral there somewhere but I'm not sure what. Lem

got as great cure for the drinkers and drivers out there . some 20years ago best friend had a call from his wife as we were out at work . we rushed to local hospital to be greeted with tragic news his 5 year old son had been knocked down and killed 200 yards from the house . the DRUNK driver had mounted the kerb, killed him outright . i was at my friends side when he identifed the body ,5years old on a slab....i have never had a drop and drove . kav on a cheery note a few efes in the sun and stagger home is more fun

Totally agree that I won't change those who continue to drink and drive, there are some who just don't care, despite all the warning. Not only in Cyprus, but in UK too. Really makes me mad. I'm much in favour of the synchronised swaying back home. Far more sociable.

Drink don't drive Drive don't drink SIMPLE. by the time you stagger home you will be near enough sober. Nice to hear the amusing stories, but it is a killer. Sorry to hear Dave that you had to identify the little boy. Instead of letting tyres down, call the Police. Cheers, T.

Basically, get caught its around 1,000ytl fine and 3 month ban. Cause an accident and kill someone you will be banged up for up to 7 years. Thats enough to sober anyone up.
