Perhaps, you would feel isolated if your mail was not delivered/collected for a few days.

Or, your application for a landline was delayed a little while?

Maybe you will have to order a tanker as the disruption affected your mains water supply?

There may be an extra power cut or two!

Never mind. You could always eat at your favourite restaurant. Have a drink in your "local". Buy anything you want, 7-days a week at the supermarket. Use your mobiles, watch TV, drive to a favourite spot, sit on a beach and watch the sunset. Or just carry on doing what you've been doing, since you arrived.

Maggie is still alive and the TRNC needs her!

Let all the civil servants go on strike, no one would notice. (Apart from the fact that the roads will be quiter).

Let them all go on strike.

Let the Government know that we will support them. So we have a few disruptions.

The alternative would be:

1. The taxes will have to go up again, and therefore EVERYTHING else we buy will be more expensive.

2. The Turkish Government steps in and pays. Very weak and continues this problem.

3. The TR Government refuses to help, which will then strengthen the Greek Cypriot Government's stance.

Pinkchilli is absolutely right.

The government has to make a stand. One of the main reasons that the country is in its current economic position is because previous governments have increased the size of the civil service in order to provide jobs for their cronies. The budget will only stretch so far !!! If workers strike, then sack them and start from a blank canvas - I am sure that there are plenty of expats with the necessary skills to fill their places.

As you say Chilli, we would not notice the difference in our everyday lives. We know all about power and water (and how!!) cuts. I feel sorry for anyone disrupted at airports because from experience CTA are not the best carrier in these situations. They just leave you wondering and not bothering to keep you up to date.

But yes, we can learn to live with it.
