Getting rid of rubbish.

Apart from dumping by the side of the road or over the fence (appears to be normal practice), how do you get rid of large items of rubbish in TRNC.

I know we have the large wheely bins for household rubbish but how would you get rid of, for example, an old mattress or washing machine or car battery ?

In UK I would take them to the local council tip. Is there such a thing near Girne ?

or just keep them at the bottom of the garden like the locals do! Esentepe has its own council tip. I can give you directions if you are on that side. Not much point if you aren't

Easiest way is up into the Village and turn just right just before the Tumba Restaurant, signposted "Cemetery" (and no that's not the tip!). Follow road around and just before you get to the cemetery gates on the left hand side leave the road,follow tyre tracks, and dump your stuff. This is the official tip and the rubbish gets burnt quite regularly, weather permitting.

If you follow that road all the way around across to the other side of the ravine right up near the highview homes site and look back across, you can just see the wonderful site of all the rubbish from that tip that has been split/tipped over the side of the ravine...Wonderful....NOT!!
