Going to put a lot of shops at the Ledra street border out of business, not to mention all the DVD shops, and a couple of shops on Girne High street out of business too........NOT !!! Tear off all the labels and pack them in suitcase in normal manner, if you do get stopped by customs and they recognise the designer goods, then they are getting paid far too much in the 1st place !!!!

What I hadn't realised, and I have checked it with a neighbour who is in C&E at Heathrow, is that if you arrive with, say, a fake Gucci bag, which cost you £30, but would have been £1000 if real, Customs can not only take the bag off you,... but also charge you up to twice the cost of the original. So that £30 fake could cost you £2000.

Just carrying it through for a friend sir - honest!!!!! If I purchased it in all good faith, thinking that I had purchased an original that was not stolen or fake then I find out it is a fake, should I not hand it in to the police and give them all the details to enable them to catch the perpatrator of such an injustice??? So when being stopped by customs and to my horror I find out that the T Shirt I bought in the Charity shop in Upper Bogsworth, before I went on holiday, was a copy and a fake - can I then ask the customs to investigate all that whole "ring" of Charity shops to get my money back?? I suppose I could always say I found it in the street and was bringing it back to hand in to the police........ Shame there are murderers and burglars out there that won't hand themselves in and are making the police/customs take this sort of action to preserve their own jobs!

Can I dispel an other urban myth 'All designer clothes in Turkey are fakes' Turkey is a major player in world rag trade it produces many of the top brands products for example Paul Le Shark, Bur berry and Diesel are only three of the well known brands that have some of their lines made in Turkey. What happens or so I am led to believe is that 'over runs are regularly made' those surplus goods are then sold in the many bazaars throughout the country. The legality of that i suppose is questionable, but certainly the purchaser could not be held accountable. The quandary then is to decide what is fake and what isn't because of course these lines are mirrored as well by the more disreputable firms. I have some Paul Le Shark sweaters that i bought three years ago in marmaris for only 60 YTL that are still in excellent condition and at that time were retailing in UK for 140 sterling. What does seem apparent is that there is a lack of these quality items been sold here as opposed to TM

We all like a bargain,... but most of the 'Fake' operators are apparently fronts for People Trafficking, prostitution, money laundering and Drugs Cartels. Be honest!,.... we know when we buy that fake and can't hide behind that 'I never knew it was fake Gov', excuse,... We are supporting the above activities. If you want a 'tee shirt', why not buy an 'unbranded' one, or are you just wanting to massage your 'ego' with a 'Designer' Tag??? Hippo, no manufacturer allows 'overruns' to be sold with corporate labelling cheaply in any market. That in itself is a myth. So next time you buy what you know is a fake or 'overrun', think to yourself,... would I happily give £20 cash to a Pimp, or child trafficker, or drug dealer on the street? That's what you're doing. (sounds a bit pompous,... but that's the reality!) Rob p.s. yes, I have probably bought some in the past, but never again.
