Dear Margaret and KAR team,

It has been a long time since I have been in touch - I can only apologise! Not sure if you remeber me but I think of you all often and the amazing work you are all carrying out. I volunteered with you having just qualified as a vet in 2007 and the time I spent (as a guest of Margaret's son) was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding times in my career to date!

I have been following your progress on your website - the ER block looks like a wonderful and welcome addition to the centre! I keep reading all the letters from people who have visited and am glad to see you seem to be going from strength to strength.

Since returning from working with you I joined a small animal practice near London and have worked there fro almost 2 years. In September, however, I am heading off to Melbourne Australia for 6 months or more and hoping to work with an animal rescue centre there. However, i believe they are lucky enough to have government support....

Whatever happened to the petition organised by KAR and presented to the government? We don't seem to have heard anything and it is evident that nothing has been done to prevent these awful deaths.

I will try to find out Earlybird and let you know but there is nothing stopping everyone else to start a pattition up and sending it to the government. All I can say at the moment regards all the poisoning that's going on is keep your dogs on a lead at all times and if possible put a soft muzzle on the dog so they can't pick anything up to eat.

I would also suggest that you all check your gardens before letting any of your pets in to the garden.

Hi again Earlybird

I hope this help with the question that was asked regards what is the goverment doing.

The poisoning petition is probably on some bodies shelf covered in dust! As the Government changed we would not know what was passed on to the new government and what was not. We plan to have a meeting soon with the new ministers to try to find out if anything at all is happening but the last we heard is that new laws, in line with the EU are being drafted but will take time. We have just got a copy of a new Dog law but it is in Turkish and we are having it translated. When we have digested this new law we plan to make an appointment with the local police to follow up with them! Watch this space. we havent given up yet but it all takes time!!!
