i.e. channels have disappeared one by one. Have tried to re-install / resetting etc, but it still says no signal & no default transponder. Anyone else have similar problem or any ideas to fix ? Thanks very much

I presume you have switched off the decoder, removed/re-installed the card?

If not try that.

Also, have you tried 12.207, or is that not possible with no default transponder showing?

I had a power cut last night, but after switching back on, all OK.

Does the program guide have the correct time? If so, everything should be OK.

Have you had your new card yet? Or even a message telling you, your new card has been sent?

Best of luck.

We are having the same problems with our Sky box and we were told this was due to the fact that we have not installed our new viewing card yet!

Will this effect Sky boxes without cards with only FTV channels?

Hi All - thanks for your replies, I have tried re-setting the transponder to 12207 but it still finds no channels, in fact the transport stream is now showing a row of zeros which is not very good! I asked my contact in the UK to send on my new viewing card once received, so I don't think it's that. Wouldn't have thought they would switch you off right away either?

Have you checked that the cable to the dish is secure and undamaged, end connectors tight, and that the recent rain has not got in at the 'dish end'.

Also has the dish itself moved?

Do you know anyone with a Sky box that would be prepared to let you try your box on their dish, and/or their box on your dish? - might help to narrow it down!

Even if you take out your viewing card, you will still get lots of free channels, so it can't be anything to do with your viewing card. Well, at least that's what I think.

Secondly, regarding your viewing card. There must be lots of people, especially at this time, who, being on holiday, are not at home when their new viewing card arrives. So, again, I doubt whether it's your viewing card.

Try re-booting, but without re-installing your viewing card. Then if successful, insert the card. At least that may stop the row of "000000's".

Depending on where you live, could you ask someone you know, to install their Sky box, with their card at the end of your satellite cable. This would indicate whether it's your box, dish, etc.

Failing all that, call Iceman (Mustapha to the rest of us).

We once had the same problem. It was caused by a small spider hiding in the Lnb,The little sod got removed with a pipe cleaner.

If the problem persists, get in touch as we have a spare sky box HD that you can try plugging into your dish to see if it works - e-mail: hayran@unwinestates.com

Hi

If you can't get any channels :

1/ turn of the sky receiver at the mains - DO NOT take out the card, please - wait 2 minutes- wait 10 minutes for a SKY+ or HD box

2/ After waiting, plug in the mains and wait 2 minutes for an ordinary box and three minutes an HD/SKY +

3/ Having waited press the SKY button at the top of the remote and HOPEFULLY you will get a TV picture or a msg asking you to connect to a phone line, back up to exit.. and THEN a TV picture, or even searching for listings please wait.THEN a picture !

4/ If this doesn't work.. then grab the remote and press Services, then 4,0,1 and select - Don't pay attention to the screen - this is a hidden menu !

press button 2, default transponder - and enter 12207, then go down to save settings, and select.. the scan to search for the channels should start..

If this fails, you have a connectivity problem, or a faulty lnb or misaligned dish ..

Thanks for latest info, have tried all of the above suggestions and still no luck. I have also tried re-booting and doing a new installation (4,0,1 select) and putting in 12207 and it starts scanning channels then says no default transponder found. The transport stream is now showing 07ea and network id 02, which should mean that it's working but it still doesn't find any channels. If it was an LNB problem would the screen still be showing the correct time and date? Don't think it could be the dish as it hasn't moved since last night when Sky was working.

Hi pinkchilli and others, thanks for all your help yesterday. After trying everything suggested and it still not working, then we called our friend who has meter which detects the signal strength etc and he confirmed there was no problem with the LNB and dish so there was no reason the loss of channels. While he was here, the channels came back of their own accord, but there are still 2 channels which we used to get which have not returned and they are Sky news (channel 501) and Sky One (106). We have just checked with another Sky user in Ozankoy and he says that he has also lost these channels.

Does anyone else who used to have these channels not longer receive them ?

Sky have finally set a date for switching off the old "Blue" Viewing Cards. It will be 30th September 2009. Everyone by then would have received their new "White" Viewing Card.

Hi TC,

re 19

I can't see how you are right with this .. I haven't had a new white card for one one of my boxes and I have DELIBERATELY left an old blue card in a box that is asking for a the new card... for eight weeks !

I also know someone got the msg re the new card, but never rec'd it.. so SKY turned the msg off and said they would get a new one.. it has not appeared yet..

I therefore conclude SKY must be allowing for more than 4 weeks lost cards / those not updated, yet.

Does your Sky box show the message for the new card as soon as they have sent it out?

Which channel does the message appear on?

I haven't received mine, nor has my friend.

on screen menu says my card is in the post but all channels ok at moment

mmmmmmmmm advice is sound check connections on back of skybox

atmospherics and humidity sometimes effect my skyplus box but this year only happened once when it was 107

we aim a cooling fan at the top of the vent now for additional airflow and it seems fine.

mmmmmmm will confirm i think that sky boxes especially plus type are notorious for hd failing and glitches

and for doing odd things

hope you get it sorted

mmmmm can you answer why sky changes card is it a security or upgrade ?

Can you please let me know how long you have been getting the messages, and how long it takes to get the card delivered (UK address, I presume)?

Thanks
