It was mainly felt in Nicosia and Limassol, 4.5 on the ricter scale, we have had much worse in the past.

Hi Kiwis - I was in the Inangahua earthquake in '68 - the house next door (Nelson) went sliding down the hill and woman killed. I was in a high set 2 storey and had just bought my first colour TV. It skedaddled out of the room on its trolley and down two flights of stairs - smithereens!

There was a beauty shaker (RoC) in '99 - epicentre being the Dhiarizos valley (Koukla) - girley and I raced out of the house and the water tank was swaying on its tower - the house cracked end for end and side on, too!

Had to cut down and brace the tank stand and fix the house - tiled patio was all cracked, too! - Deep joy - well it was when a couple of Poms, who'd already bought an apartment on TT land at Moutallos, bought the old, rooted beyond repair 'concrete tent'!

My kids felt it in Lefkosa, I got an excited phone call from them as it was the first one they have been in that they were old enough to know what it was.

It was also mentioned in the mid week Cyprus today.

I think kiwi's get a bit relaxed about earthquakes, when i was still living in NZ i wouldn't bother getting out of bed unless the bed started moving across the room, usually meant it was about 6 on the richtor scale.

After the Big one in 99 in Istanbul we had a few small ones here, which sent me in to total panic as we live on the second floor of an apt block. I've never been the same since.
