Thanks lesleyd, that pretty much covers everything this side.

I would still like some info about taking a dog through the south?

Taking your dog out from the south might be a little risky. You would have to get him/her over the border and that in itself could be very problematic. Some have tried to "smuggle" animals across and then pretend they were always in the south, but if one was caught doing that goodness knows what would happen to both oneself and the poor dog. It's not worth the risk IMHO.

We bit the bullet and sent ours across from here. Margaret at KAR co-ordinated everything and he's been in quarantine 3 months now. He's doing fantastically well and the time actually passes a lot quicker than you might imagine.

Hi, I have recently brought my dogs back to the UK and found the whole thing a lot easier than I ever imagined. KAR and the vets were a great help and the kennels over here were brilliant. Both dogs settled straight away in quarantine and whilst thay were relieved to be out they we not too traumatised by the experience. They are now a lot happier in UK with cooler weather and more places to run around - they are impressed with green grass and woods etc! I didnt want to risk taking them across boarder incase and I am now pleased I didnt. Kitty1 is quite right, the 6 months passes very quickly!

Hi Kitty1 & livinginuk,

Thank you both so much for your advice. I didn't realise it was as risky as it is to go via the South. I will definately not be going that way.

I'll take your advice & get in touch with KAR (didnt know they were there for this reason).

My only worry is that my little pooch is getting on now & i'm not sure if she'll handle 6 months away from us......

Thanks again ))
