You can get a pressure switch in most Yapi Market (DIY, builder's merchant).

The fault is not necessarily with the switch itself. I would be happy to come and have a look at the problem.

I agree with John, very unlikely that the fault is with pressure switch, probably its the motor or the connections getting wet somewhere.

Our pressure switch stays on.

Have to switch it off at the wall to stop it pumping.

Any suggestions?

Maybe the pump is not pumping properly and hence the pressure not rising enough to cut off the motor. Did you check the maximum pressure when the pump is running*

Hi elko2,

Pump runs perfectly,

good pressure etc,

but will not stop :-(

So we just switch it on when needed, or to top up roof tank

Navek, could be the non-return valve not working properly,so not letting the pump reach its cut off pressure.

Navek,

It may be good pressure but is it reaching the cut off point? My switch is set at 4.2 bar (kg/cm2), so unless the pressure reaches this point it will not cut off. You may have to lower the cut off point. Normally there are two adjustments on it, one is the main pressure adjustment and the other smaller one is the "differential" i.e. the pressure difference between cut off and cut in. Have a look at the pressure and if need be try to adjust the cut off point.

Hi ismet,

Well described for a mechanical pressure switch.

However, the other common type of pressure switch is an "electronic" one and has no user adjustment. These "electronic" pressure switches can be recognized in that they have no red/orange/blue metal ball shaped pressure vessel on top.
