Recently have been receiving msg's and invites to chat to people even though I have checked the box "msgs received only from people I know". No problem to block them and delete from contacts but anyone know why this should happen?

We get them everyday, such a nuisance, what can we do about it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I never used to get any odd messages but now I get at least 8 a day! It has only started in the last few weeks, since I did the last skype update and checked through my email addresses for people I know on skype! I will try the tips suggested by Erolz and see what happens. You would think skype would have a "spam" filter the way most ISP's do as most of the names are quite obviously false.

This is a software bug that they should be able to fix. I have both a Mac and a PC, and have never once had an unsolicited message on the Mac version of Skype. So it's not impossible to fix, they just seem to be taking thier time over it!

There is no current fix or workaround for this at the momment, the skype forums are full of users complaining about the same thing

RE msg 6, SunloverK: (...) This is a software bug that they should be able to fix. I have both a Mac and a PC, and have never once had an unsolicited message on the Mac version of Skype. (...)

=> Slightly off topic: Re Mac: same here, not a single problem with Skype. Active with OS 10.4.11 and 10.5.8.

P.S. SunloverK: which OS are you using on your Mac and which Internet browser? Latest version of Skype?
