Do you mean what we cal 'elocution lessons' - namely that you want to speak clealry, distinctly, with a good accent that is a bit like Her Majesty the Queen, or do you mean that you want to ensure that your speech is grammatical with correct syntax (order of speech) and using correct prepositions etc, or do you want a combination ofr both.

Please be more specific.

Hi,

Thanx for your replies

MarieB: actually, i really don't want to talk like Her Majesty the Queen ))

i'm a good reader however i'm not a good speaker!

i just want to speak clearly (with a good accent could be perfect!) and express

my thoughts quickly.

so i need to exercise my english with speaking lessons...

i wish i can be more specific right now )

RE msg 6, ocean: (...) i could of helped you out (...)

=> Ocean, dear Turkish Cypriot lady, the above is wrong. It should have been: "I could have helped you out". But, don't worry. Many native born Brits on this board make the same mistakes in their NATIVE language. Many posts in the beautiful English language here are a disgrace to the UK.

Yeah, Dutch, it was a bit pompous, but you're quite right, there are many posters who can't get it right in their own language. Ocean's first message was even worse.

But the thread says "looking for a NATIVE ENGLISH TEACHER", so that would disqualify even you, Dutch....

=> True. I've only qualified in German (and some other languages), but never in English. Why would I? English was just another language "I had to do". More Europeans speak German than English..! This smiley means: check my statement, check Google...

I can't believe how horrible some people can be i am so upset by your comments and so shocked. So what if i am Turkish Cypriot i think that was a bit racist.

I think people need to settle down and stop being so precious. Technically, John, you've just made a racist comment yourself ("cypriot people have a short fuse"), but I believe you should be more concerned with the intent behind any apparently racist comments. e.g. "Fijians are a wonderfully happy people" is a racist comment, but is the intent an evil one?

Ocean, Dutch may have been pompous, even a little patronising, but do you really believe his intent was malicious? To me, he seemed to aim more criticism at those Brits who murder their own language...

mess 16 i didnt mean it a racist way but i looked at a another thread about mani pani which has mystriously vanshied how a cypriot woman went crazy.

im just warning some people just think if some cypriots saw some of the things people say they might take an offence and report cyprus44 to shut it down or even worse look for us who found some things offensive.

rumour is that they're already starting to get really annoyed.
