Blood donors, possible solutions

Just a thought, if there is such a shortage of blood for transfusions etc, has nobody thought of assimilating the information of anybody that would be willing to give a pint in an emergency, which could be stored on a database, along with contact details, which could be accessed by hospitals in need, overseen by an administrator?



I would be totally distraught if somebody I knew died through lack of a donor, especially family friends or visitors

thats a good idea chris . dont know if the hospitals would be willing to set it up but it is certainly worth investigating .

I dont mind setting it up, but we wont be over there until Sept (for good!)

My son is a computer programmer and could do the necessary database in minutes, its a case of collating the info and seeing if the hospitals are interested, they would contact me, I would sort out the nearest match,arrange transport etc.



It was just an idea.

My son, Robin is moving over with me, so if anyone has computer probs, he is available.
