I was listening today to some DJ calling himself Engin something or other.

Now I admit, I can't speak Turkish, but this particular program was in English.

The guy has a speech impedimant, and whilst trying to do the "Sun Sports Bit" he pronounced nearly every name wrong, had no idea what he was reading.

Have you also noticed they keep playing music between every third word.

Also, he reads out the date every two minutes, IN FULL.. Today is the twenty-sixth of August two thousand and nine.

Here's an example: Hello, welcome to (music for 3 seconds) BRT Radio broadcasting on (music) blahdy, blahdy, blah.

Then they have the news in bloody Greek. I can't believe any Brits actually listen, never mind the Bubbles.

Pinkchilli,

I must admit to not ever hearing BRT but have you ever listened to Bayrack on a Sunday morning?

I went out driving one sunday and thought I would turn on the radio, so I tuned into Bayrack for a change. I can't remember the time but there was this guy on called DJ Mike, okay whilst his music was varied and I quite enjoyed most of it, but his voice just droned on and on and on ......! Anyway, his programme was due to finish so I stuck with the station only to then listen to a woman with probably one of the worse DJ voice's I have ever heard, she was very obviously, reading everything in monotone.

I was ALMOST wishing for DJ Mike to come back on!!!!

Where is DD, she wanted to do a programme on the radio?

I suppose if any one of you was to be employed at London Turkish Radio as a DJ,you'd be much better doing the job.

I must admit I like to listen to BFBS, I used to when I was a kid where ever we were living but I don't seem to able to get a good signal where I am living now. I usually get it in the car and half way down the mountain.

Just come back from 3 weeks out there and every day I cried laughing at his radio programme, I think he just plays Now 8 from 1985 or something, Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet etc.. Its like hes set up in his bedroom talking in to a hairbrush, he sounds like he is reading from an autocue or flash cards, but as you say his English is better than our Turkish.....he may improve in time, but I enjoyed listening even if it is cringeworthy......take it away...........baby!!!!
