why is it so expensive to receive internet via this method



and how long will it take to get a decent quick service from internet providers



in my opinion 60kbs download is not decent and thats limited via extend wireless service. downloading at that speed takes

ages.



uk has it spot on now at a decent price and choice

There are SO many different tariffs / services via Sat internet..what you have to remember:



1/ It will always be more expensive than cable / ADSL



2/ Best used where the above aren't available and you want to be connecting via a UK based hub.. no need for VPNS to appear in the UK



3/ Downloading is more expensive than ADSL/ Cable - Satellite internet best used in remote locations for internet browsing, emails and SKYPE / voIP..



Sat internet allows you to live where there is a poor communications infrastructure - your house might cost less and the location more "interesting" - the downside is communications cost more..:(

It is expensive as the lines are from the south side and some from turkey. We don't actually have internet in this country, and there are these special rates the internet provider have to pay etc.



nethouse takes max 5 days for setup.



there are many agents around kyrenia.

*I* was taking about dedicated sat internet - two way- the actual PHYSICAL connection points to the internet are mostly in Germany/ UK / NL / L'bourg..depending on your provider.



So..where do Cyprus / Turkey "lines" come into it ?! THEY DON'T



As hard wired phone connections aren't common in "TRNC", I hardly think the OP ( orig. poster) is referring to one-way sat with a land line return path...
