My poor car has now been the victim of several 'touch parking' incidents by various careless idiots.

Can anybody recommend a decent panel beater/paintsprayer at reasonable cost - and not the local price/foreigner rip-off price merchants, please. Girne or Lefkosia - I don't mind driving a reasonable distance if a good job is the result.

A taxi hit our car last year and we were sent by the Police to Dickner Motors in Karakum. We were a bit apprehensive but they did a really good job so I would recommend them. I don't know about the cost because the taxi driver's insurers had to foot the bill. I'd go and ask for a quote. It's moved since we used them and is now on the left in a parade of shops past Lemar near the turning to Karakum beach.

My neighbour used a place not far from Jashan's

Heading into town from Alsancak, it's the second turning on the right past Jashan's, and it's on the left hand corner when you hit the junction. You can't really miss it, 'cos of all the beat-up cars outside, with bandages round 'em like 'walking wounded' - well, newspaper and masking tape then...

They did such a good job to the slight accident damage (somebody else was paying) that he asked them to quote next time he suffered the same problem as you currently have

I don't know the price, but I do know my neighbour, he's not 'tight' by any means, but he knows value for money when he sees it! They do have an 'oven' to bake the finish, and it looked good to me

As always, I would say take a TC neighbour or friend with you - it's not so much that they 'rip off foreigners' as that they are much more likely to treat a 'friend of a friend' sympathetically

John Hussein is super. I would not use anyone else. You would have to join the queue as he is doing my car at the moment.

Dikener Karakum is now closed - heard they went bankrupt. Tried contacting by telephone and visiting several times after they did bodywork repairs. Done good bodwork job but minor bits were removed and not put back! Wot more can I say......

Also used John Hussein very good.

John Hussein did mine and even picked up my car and delivered it back to me. Completely stress-free.

Would recommend him.

I have also used the garage behind what was Friends Hotel, very good service. Regrettably a few too often times my car has been there that they have my car paint in its own pot. What i did find out after the last dents were sorted is that my full comp insurance would pay. Have since had my car hit twice so back into the workshop it will go, I just have to use the Insurance companies recommended garage and i wont have to pay a thing. May be worth checking your policy.

Thanks for all your tips!

Since first posting this thread, my car has suffered another 'hit', by some barsteward backing out.

Now, my question is: who is best for a total respray?

We have used 2 garages here and I think both have been mentioned, the first being up behind the market place and the 2nd which is our favourite, is in Karakum. The original Dikener garage has moved and is near the K-pet garage, you will see an office to the left side of k-pet as you are looking at it. They were superb

Indeed I have, Hilda, but the lack of 'kinetic energy' required has temporarily made it problematical due to excessive, juxtapositional gravitational forces repelling the vertical upthrust!

Someone suggested a dose of Viagra in the tank might solve the problem...

Thanks, guys, for your additional info.!
