Thinking of getting a quadbike;

Does anyone know whether or not quads are liable for road tax etc.?

I only ask because I regularly see two or three quadbikers on the roads around Lapta with no number plates on the vehicles.

Is it the same as the UK where up to a certain cc car drivers can legally drive quads?

Silly question but I take it these bikes have to be insured?

Thanks in advance.

if you want to use a quad or for that matter any bike, it needs to be registered...

Obviously doesn't apply to locals, who are in "the gang".

If you have a full uk licence you can ride a quad.

Over here you have to wear a helmet to ride a quad.

They are calssed as "tractors" for road tax purposes, so there is VAT to pay when you transferr ownership and the road tax is far higher...

If you factor in they are bleeding apauling on the road, and are too wide to "nip" in and out of the traffic, a quad over here doesn't stack up...

Obviously if used on road will need insurance....

The road users in Lapta are not locals they are Brits.

No helmets; no registration plate.

Take on board your advice re road holding.

mess 3 - they are lucky - me and 'er in doors got pulled on my bike a couple of weeks ago for no helmets and got a 180TL fine..

in my opinion you'd be better of going for an on road/off road bike, something like a Honda Falcon (400cc) - they are good on road and off, cheap to tax, and you can nip in and out of the traffic no problem...
