Anyone interested in (new) electric bikes?

several modes to choose from ranging from ordinary looking bikes with a mortorised wheel to super dooper scooters with lots of fancy bits in which to carry your shopping.

Some come with free helmets, all come with chargers.

theses electric bicycls are absolutly fantastic, my son had one in shanghai when he was living there - so reliable and cheap, - if it coms to TRNC you must be able to sell spare battery as well !!!!!

hi Sylvie.

I have to buy them by the the container load so i need to establish there is a market for them in Cyprus. yes I would bring all the spares so batteries and chargers would be available.

The prices and models are vastly different and a container load is a load of mostly one model from 1 supplier so pricing is difficult until I know what people may be interested in.

"hope thats not a silly comment Mrs Grumpy"

I can get almost any style from a bike with an electric hub to an electric motorbike and as you can imagine spcification and prices differ greatly and there are several different suppliers to barter prices with. I would suggest something more than a bike with an electric hub but perghaps not a full blown motor bike, a scooter type with storage space for shopping sounds ok for the region region.

i understand, but you have to see TRNC REGULATIONS about electric bikes coming from china - in france, any bike is allow to go on the road unless they are approuved - tha is why we haven't such a market - of course we have models which is very very expensive becase the retailers have the monopol - knowing how much it is to buy i china it is disgraceful - the prIce is multiply by 10 6

IT IS RIDICULIOUS because they do ot pollute and are very reliable - my son used it in shanghai for 6 years without problems beside the battery changing -

wish you to fid out and succed in your importation of bikes ! might be one of your customer if not too expensive !

Hi sylvie,

thanks for the info, I'll have the latest specifications from 4 manufacturers soon and with that the prices and minimum quantities per order. Previously elec bikes didn't have a such good range between charging. They have improved but I don't have that data yet.

salahi,

I'll see if they do one without a seat, that may bring a smile to your grumpy face.

these bikes will be no doubt made in China, so the quality will be suspect...

Why assume that the quality will be suspect?

China is a huge country with a huge manufacturing base that caters for ALL price sectors.

I have visited China on buying trips and have seen the good and the bad but the fact is you dont have to buy from the bad, just pay a few cents more and get a better quality product.

If Ivorbankloan bears this in mind when signing on the dotted line I am sure his venture will succeed.

Personally I would ask the manufacturer to supply a paid for sample and literally use the bike non stop for a month and pull it to pieces and check every nut and bolt to be sure I am happy with the quality.

Good luck IBL

Regards

Gary

Thanks Gary,

Rather than buy at Dragon mart in Dubai where just about everthing is available these would be direct from the manufacturers and if it goes ahead I would ( as the retailer) put some sort of warantee on them.

ivan,

quality will be good if you know the right people manufacturing - the chinease mentality is diffrent from ours - it doesn't mean that it is bad but you have to understand their culture - go there - make a chinease person responsable of the sending so you will not receive faulty bikes - paying taxes for nothing ! go and check every single one at the beginnin, beleive me i know what i am telling you - if you speak chinease it is much better if not paid an interpreter - in th south est most of them speak english but still .... anyway this is business what ever the country is

Most things now days break down at some stage. What could set IBL apart from others in TRNC is good customer service and good spare part availability. Things go wrong in life, its how you respond to them in business that can make or break you.

IBL

Not wish to teach you how to suck eggs but...

Make sure you visit the factory personally and take a Chinese speaking friend with you if you can.

Do not rely on someone from the factory to translate for you.

Get them to draft & sign all contracts in English and agree a fixed price for a set period of time as in my experience it is common for the factory to try and increase the price (10 - 25%!) for your second order.

Provide for this price increase when calculating your original market price just in case you cannot keep them to the original price.

Out of curiosty is the factory in the South East of China?

sylvie,

it is a myth that electric vehicles do not pollute, you recharge the battery from the mains, how is the electricity generated yes by the polluting power stations unless of course you are talking about nuclear power stations
