Peace since 1974 thanks to the Turkish military in the TRNC, in what the UN regard as a war zone.

Keeping the Greeks out. Well, that's a new one on me.

Where are the marauding Greeks coming from - Athens, Corfu, any other of the Greek Islands?

Do elaborate, for all our sakes.

And the green line - was it "drawn" in crayon or possibly green chalk?

Message 5 - totally agree.

As far as I'm aware, the Green Line was first drawn by British offficer through a map of Nicosia deliniating the divide between the TC's anf the GC's. What we now live behind is the Attila Line, which is simply where the Turkish Army was stopped in August 1974. I think the "Green Line" was later expanded to "fit" this new line by those who didn't know it's real name.

Cyprusraider - many thanks for this information. In fact, I have just come on here to correct my posting, having found out that the green line was, in fact, drawn, as you explain above.

Please accept my apologies for this oversight - I was wrong.

Green line was drawn after July 1974, after Greeks to the south and Turks to the north. Before that time people were free to go where they wanted if it deemed safe to do so. After the 'green line' was drawn we were perfectly safe on the northern part thanks to the Turkish Army and long may they remain.

Dear Rocking

separating historical fact and fiction might be useful..

>>Before that time [July1974 -according to you ]people were free to go where they wanted if it deemed safe to do so<<

Did you know it was thanks to a Turkish Cypriot ( what's with all these "Turks" and "Greeks" ?) that the crossing points were reopened?
