When looking at most of the car rental companies, they state border crossing is prohibited...Even companies that some members have mentioned eg Hertz. Is is ok to cross if you purchase additional insurance at the border?

But you aren't crossing a state border...

It is "an area beyond effective control of the govt"..

Can't remember - either Hetz or Avis allow a car to be taken into "TRNC"

Unfortunately Fontana say they do not have any cars available at the time requested, told them i was staying in Kyrenia, not sure if that made a difference?

Thanks both, Fontana unfortunately have no availability for my dates and i didn't mean a 'state' border, its just in the terms and conditions, it says you must not cross any borders...

My sister hired a car from Oscars £75 for 3 days to go to a wedding in the south and they gave her some paper to produce at border-she had no problems at all.

Hi Jo

I normally hire from Fontana but last time I booked a car with Sun rentacar in Nicosia and they organised a taxi to collect me from Larnaca. £25 each way for the taxi, hire car about half the price it is in the South, no insurance to buy at the crossing and no difficulty with directions. info@sunrentacar.com

Does anyone know the current cost of getting the insurance at the border. We hired in the south couple of years ago and we are considering a one week hire from next week but I can't remember how much insurance we paid at the border. I think it was about £3 per day?
