Izzet,

Not sure I like the new front page of the Forum.

I would prefer to go to the Old page first, then into a sub catagory.

Also, when you go to a sub Catagory and then reply to a post, you end up back at the front page again and have to select the sub catagory again.

Can you please take a look.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve

I'm with you, its a bit hard getting used to it. I keep clicking onto general but then find I've missed something in the other categories. I suppose the answer is just click onto Old Style Headings.

Once you post a reply, now you have the link to go back to the category homepage rather than the forums homepage.

I found it necessary to introduce categories because there were lots of postings such that what a new post in the morning might go to the second page by the evening - amazing!

Please keep posting on how we can make this more efficient.

Thanks,

Izzet

Izzet,

You might have missed my point.

If you choose a Sub Category and you reply to a post, then you should be directed back to that part of the forum because that's where you chose to be in the first place, therefore that's where you want to go back to.....surely.

Once you reply to a post, a reply confirmation page comes up (like before)

You can then click on the category index link to go back to that part of the forum - I just did that fix.

Please check.

Let me know if I understood correctly now.

Seems like, if you choose "Old Style" and then mak a reply to a post, you do not get directed back to "Old Style", only say "General Chat".

Can't be right....

hi guys

for me personally the old system is better i dont mind going backwards and forwards pages cos i know my way round the forum

but for newbies and people who havent got a clue round the forum then this is a good idea, the only thing that still gets up my nose a bit is the same subjects that get posted maybe a week or two after the origanal subject get posted

never mind we cant have it all!!!! or can we lol

regards

OK Izzet,

Now we need another link back to the original area....

If you select "Old Style" and don't post a reply, you should be able to ge straight back to where you came from, again you cannot. this should just be a link back to the "old style" not a list og where you want to go to next........

I think "Old Style" will win...

I go for the old type since I try to look at all types of posts but I think the new format is better for those who are interested only in certain types of posts. However I agree with MC, we should be able to get back to where we came from.

Must admit i prefer the old way

Why is it that we dont like change, is it that we become set in our ways, remember when you were a teenager you wanted to change the world now all we want to do is slow down and start to relive our lives in North Cyprus, great init.

What do you think of the categories at the TRNC Villa Owners then?

http://trncvillaowners.phpbb3now.com/viewforum.php?f=2

Hi Izzet

Yes that would be ok. Would you be able to indicate new items otherwise they will go unnoticed.

On TRNC Villa Owners, I always click on "View New Topics" and it is almost like the old way here, all categories included. The only difference is that the unread posts come up in red. That is an extra bonus.

But one is Javascript the other is php. Two different type of scripting language. Depends how good Izzet is with his scripting to be able to remodel the whole database.

hi

trnc layout is ok and i tend to do what ismet does click on new topics!!!, i really dont mind what system is used this is more for the newbies who dont know their way round the forum

in my eyes the only thing i would like to see new is the actual subjects on how long they are maybe they can be split into pages with the newsest post at the top and the oldest at the bottom or if long on a seperate page

regards

I have no preference between the old or new styles, and sure we'll all get used to the new style very quickly.

My only problem is that if you miss a couple of days, it can be time consuming to look through previous days posts to find a thread that interests, or wish to participate in. (not that some aren't interesting).

Agree with you ukturk, it is frustrating to see people asking questions on subjects that have been discussed many times by creating a new thread, when there is an index on the opening page.

Actually, its Chris,Rambo is my partner, and as we share the same e-mail address and he was added last, he comes up first, so I tried to edit his details but it wont let me. I was going to add an / between our names, is this a fault my end??

Chris

PS I prefer the old style, because I get confused easily!!

Hi Chris/Rambo

Wouldn't it be easier to just register another person?

(Chris)

I did register him as another person, but we share the same e-mail address and apparently that is what the systems go on.

My son (long suffering) is sorting John out another one later, so we should be separate again!

Thanks for the advice

BACK TO THE OLD STYLE!

I was thinking this would have improved usability of our forums since there may be people who are interested in general chat and have no interest in property related discussions, and also some people post self promotional things which I didn't want to delete but have a seperate category for that.

Anyway, it was not better as per the feedback. So, old style wins!

Izzet - you're a victim of your own success! Don't stop trying, but it's true - we just don't like change!!

Plus, we're all really nosey and like to see what's happening, even if it doesn't apply to us.

Keep up the excellent work.
