I have the oppertunity of many diffrent products from suppliers i used to deal with when i was living in the UK.

at present im being offerd 42"-47"-50" LCD TVs. all with DVD players built in,also the plug on the TV so you can connect a PC to the set if you like.

At the moment the price is looking to be around $1200 for the 50" that would be including customs duties here.

im wondering as to how many people might be interested in this product.

The panels are samsung and or toshiba panels,i also think but im waiting to find out if they are HDMI ,but im not sure if that will make much diffrence here, also i think the sets have free view channels built in,maybe also that doesnt matter here.

It would be nice to see what interest there is ,also for us all to get this price,we would have to put 50% deposit when ordering, that is how we get the price or around $1200 a set, some may ask,why dont i just buy thesets then sell them once they have arrived here, good idea, but then i would

want profit myself as i would of been the person laying out the money to buy the 1 x 40ft container =122 sets, but as it would be a buying club,i pass on the savings to the customer.

We all save this way, also not only if i get the interest in the TVs but i will also be looking at other products.

£679 pounds = $$$$

plus shipping it to cyprus

plus KDV

plus import duty

plus clearing agents fee

ect ect

does the LG tv have built in DVD player. does it have the pc adapter plug socket built in? would it have built in free view channels, so what im asking is the spec of the TV

of course we can all find older obsolete models in the national newspapers,i want up to date TV if im buying, not out of date but looks up to date in 20 years behind cyprus, just cos we live in a behind times contry,it doesnt mean we must be the same!

Trading is good business anywhere in the word except the KKTC authorites dont really do much to encourage it there.

£679 minus the VAT is roughly $970.

Most people moving will bring their own tv's with them from the UK which the import taxes are significantly less than someone bringing them in for the purposes of business.

Because of the price differences some people will bring electrical items over with them when visiting the UK or pop accross to the southside and bring them over in their car.

If you are buying them from the UK would it not be better to quote the price in £GBP?

I understand what you are saying terms of spec but as long as the tv is fit for the purpose its bought for then buyers generally are not to bothered.

If a TV has freeview is not really relevant in the TRNC though as it doesnt work does it?

there are alot of people who didnt bring TVs out with them, and bought here, and realised the high price of electrical items here, you cannot legally go to the south and smuggle back a 50" TV or any other electrical item over 120Euros.

secondly again,i wouldnt want to pay $970 US dollar for a obsolete TV that is analogue when the whole of UK will be going digital in 1 years time.

Thirdly my thread was asking if any 1 would be interested in this product, i never asked for a breakdown of the pro,s and cons of buying here in TRNC or not buying here or how many people bring containers and TVs.

i was merly showing the price of a very up to date TV and if some 1 bought this TV here from a reputable company like Zerochlor as to buying from some of the local electrical shops, the money they could save, and if you ever went back to UK it could also go back,as it would work there in 1 years time with the new system,Digital. SPEC does matter in everything you buy!

and i also take on board what your saying.

also if you where to survey here in the TRNC you would be suprised as to the amount of people who have already bought or thinking of buying a larger TV or who would buy a larger TV if the cost was right.

hello QQ

to be honest it was more of a survey to feel if there would be any interest,in saying that it is a real deal and available if the customers are here.

50" inch have now all been sold, only available to me now are 47" and 52". but all singing and dancing, basically the same spec as i wrote above, answer to your question was 50" would of been around $1200,possibly $1275.

the 47" will be $1200 US dollar but will also include the Wall mounting bracket,

here is the spec. PRODUCT SPEC.

I do wish you well with what you are trying to do.

People, well Brit ex-pats, will mostly always compare the costs in the TRNC to the cost of things back home. I have just had a quick look at dixons website and they have a 50" LG LCD with freeview for £640.

That same TV from LG in Lefkosia, Artesa from memory, will be around the $2000 mark. Obviously you are in a better position to know the exact retail price in the TRNC than I am.

Perhaps if you posted how much of a saving you can provide then it may help you.

I was trying to point out some of the pitfalls. Many people (TC's and Ex-Pats) do shop in the South and do bring things over and take a chance or will bring one over when on a trip to the UK.

It wouldnt surprise me if there are some ex-pats who move out and then discover that electrical items are expensive as over the years many have made this move and not done much in the way of homework.

I do sincerely wish you the best of luck with it though

i think you have had me on a wild goose chase my friend

LG do not have a 50" LCD for £640, please send me the link to it?

maybe you mean a 50" plasma. plasma TVs are cheap as chips all over the world

i think this is the LG 50" TV you was talking about with built in Free veiw ect ect,if it isnt, please send me the link to the £640 LG LCD TV

http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@2125723823.1251960152@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccceadeiemhkdkicflgceggdhhmdfhk.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=050409&category_oid=-31895

again i feel your prices are wrong at $2000 for TRNC for a LCD. maybe a plasma youll ge for $2000 if your lucky here, but a liquid crystal display TV is far superior to plasma.

If you get this idea off the ground, the very best of luck to you, it takes some bottle to start a new venture any where, But one of my sales companys in the UK boomed in the bad times, it was down to aggresive marketing and I had the bottle to buy the stock when others wouldn,t, So if you take a chance on this I hope you get the support and I hope it works well for you,

The idea of the buying club is to keep the price low, with all customers putting in 50% of the cost of the product, thus not just 1 person financing the whole deal himself and then wanting profit on his investment, then once the product arrives, each person pays the remainder of the price of the product, and in buying this way saves themself alot of money.

This same system could be used the same way to buy many other products what people may need, the company im dealing with have around 6000 diffrent products in total.

But i suppose with any idea where people must part with a percentage of money before seeing or touching the product its a hard one to get off the ground.

Srory to take a while replying to your post, I have had trouble logging on, Yes myself and Jan are doing a bit with Sue and Glen at Esentepe Villa, Lovley place, and great hosts. this is a learning curve for us , never cooked on large scale before , my staff do it in the UK, but we have recieved mainly very good comments, would be a bit naughty for me to say it,s good, please give it a try , and good luck with buying club.
